Reduced Reliance on RNG (from the perspective of a game maker)

I'm not a developer myself, but I agree that the RNG needs some adjusting. I'm trying to at least get to level 15 to get the rare NBWs but after that I doubt I will fight as much as I am currently. The only advantage having a high level seems to get you in battle is a slight bonus in HP, but that's useless, because it's only a 1HP per level increase and you still end up with enemies with much better HP at your same level. I barely see any attack bonus, and aside from level 1-3 enemies there is no defense bonus either, meaning I will have enemies that are half my level still kick my ass if I go into battle without more than half of my HP. My entire battle strategy is mash bite and rest to save energy if the enemy bleeding and about to die, I've had no good reason to use latch, so I feel at the very least we should get some kind of information on how various moves might affect the enemy. I don't really agree that the RNG needs adjustment in hunting too, personally I do see a significant difference between my high synergy party and my low synergy one, and I'm ok with 100% synergy parties still failing large hunts every once in a while, although maybe they should have a 100% success rate on critters by then. It's only in winter that the RNG turns really brutal, so I feel that should need to be fixed a little (100% synergy party only managed to get me three or four successful hunts in this winter which I feel is a little too low) |

Support! Battling is such a hassle right now, especially if you're trying to move to a different territory, which requires fighting x amount of enemies. Thanks to RNG, it feels like every creature you fight is super overpowered, regardless of their actual level. Also the randomness of enemy levels is really strange too, especially for the starter or "easy" biomes. You would think that there would be encounters with consistently lower levels for these areas, but I am almost constantly finding ones at level 15+. And it's not like my wolf is that high of a level either so most of the fights are impossible to win. I get that this game is brand new and really bare bones when it comes to the base mechanics, but this feels like something they should have figured out before going to full release, imo. This, among other things, really brings down the enjoyment of this game. (also very much not a fan of hunting RNG; my main team has 100% synergy and role proficiency, and still rarely can take down critter-sized prey. C'mon.) |

Completely agreed, I don't even have much else to say. |

I was also thinking the quests needed to be a bit more personalised rather than mostly, if not entirely random. The quests are either extremely easy or only possible to complete if I am online all day and even then it's partially down to luck. I've also had the have 9 successful hunts way too much, more than 70% of the time at this point. The quests need to follow your level and feel a little more personal! I'm completing them solely for the reward, but it would be so much better if I felt the actual participation/journey was more fun, or earnt! |

support! when i was level 11 i got my ass beat by a level 1 fox. now i fight a lot less and dont bother with fighting anything below level 7 because there's just. no real benefit. i want to get to higher levels solely for the NBW benefits, otherwise it's pretty tedious. the fact that i have better rewards and about the same risk fighting a level 20 opponent compared to a level 1 opponent is dumb. the only real difference seems to be how much damage they can do and how much they can take, which just means it's either dragged out longer or shorter. this was part of why i stopped caring about lioden, it's just not fun when everything is completely random and you have very little to actually do with it. |

Big support! I'd like to see some adjustments made to the battling system without needing another battle item like a lucky foot. I'm steadily making my way up to level 20 and can still get my ass handed to me by a level 11 if RNG decides to be a jerk. (Especially if it's an enemy that causes bleed way too easily) I would love to see stats and levels make a more significant difference than it does right now. I should be able to completely decimate a level 1 without losing much HP |

Fellow game dev here, completely agree. Going into battles is such a crapshoot that it has entirely lost any potential of being fun for me. Not having any way to prepare/strategize to win a battle is totally frustrating. The only item I know of that can help is the lucky foot, and even then I have lost to enemies half my level due to bad dice rolls and no way to counter that. Once I hit level 15 I don't plan to battle much unless I need to for a quest. |

Yes, please! So many things regarding the battle system don't make sense to me. I can lunge at an enemy to start a battle, get a message that it's stunned, and... miss latch? How does that work? I feel like even my most thought-out strategies are pointless to make because the RNG just has me crashing into a wall over and over again. |

BIG SUPPORT on this one. The game’s RNG makes me so adverse to battling. It’s such a struggle to level up that it’s not worth it. |

Absolutely support! I hate how up to chance every battle feels, unless the enemy is drastically under my current level. :( |
