Reduced Reliance on RNG (from the perspective of a game maker)

I’ve noticed that too. Foxes not being common at all. Of course, the ones I find are always too low or high a level to get the drops. The pattern for me seems to be, most full energy bars I’ll always find like too foxes. One that’s level 16-18 and the other being level 4.

There's no such thing as too high, actually. You can get trophies from any level above yours, or up to five levels below you.

Actually killing them might be an issue though.

I was reading this post, perusing, thinking about saying "support" and then I saw -- foxes are supposed to be COMMON, EASY enemy??????? I hardly ever find ANY foxes. So, yes, support! Support x 100!

I came to this topic with this glorious failure of a battle. Max HP, lvl 14 lead, lucky feet used. Needless to say, I spend somewhere around 4 full energy bars to even find this encounter.
Sometimes I wonder why I keep doing this to myself.

[Rolled 2 + 0]The Elephant Seal chases you and hits just one last time for 2 damage. Total energy used: 10.

You are bleeding and have lost 2 HP.

The Elephant Seal attacks you for 3 damage.

[Rolled 3 + 0]You bite the Elephant Seal for 2 damage.

You are bleeding and have lost 2 HP.

The Elephant Seal attacks you for 4 damage.

[Rolled 2 + 1]You try to rest but the Elephant Seal rushes at you and attacks for 2 damage!

You are bleeding and have lost 2 HP.

The Elephant Seal attacks you for 4 damage. You are wounded!

[Rolled 2 + 0]You bite the Elephant Seal for 2 damage.

The Elephant Seal attacks you for 3 damage.

[Rolled 2 + 0]You bite the Elephant Seal for 4 damage.

The Elephant Seal attacks you for 4 damage.

[Rolled 1 + 0]You bite the Elephant Seal for 5 damage.

The Elephant Seal attacks you for 6 damage.

[Rolled 3 + 0]You bite the Elephant Seal for 2 damage.

Used a Lucky Foot!

[Rolled 2 + -1]The Elephant Seal lunges and hits you for 6 damage.

[Rolled 3 + -1]The Elephant Seal's overwhelming strength makes you take a step back. Your opponent moves first.

100% agree for all points above, don't get me started on how frustrating it gets to have two 100% synergy 100% proficiency teams fail *counts from my tally today* fail 6 out of 11 total hunts

Just want to express my support, and my hope that the game devs have seen this and will take it into consideration. I know Wolvden is likely profit-driven and as long as people are paying for GC and such, they'll feel like the game is a success. While this issue may not be enough to make me stop playing, it is enough to make me feel frustrated and less motivated / committed. I don't think a game can be called a success if the players are constantly frustrated and discouraged. Honestly if the community wasn't as wonderful as it is, I'd be long gone.

I recently promoted a new lead, and had that motivation and pride that comes with it. With her promotion I also brought two new teams of G2 hunters, all 350 stats and above. Significant difference in starting stats from my original NBWs and my original lead wolf.

Leveling my lead went okay until I got to 9. Now it's excruciatingly slow going because even a Level 2 bald eagle will take my Level 9 lead out very quickly. That newfound motivation has very quickly taken a nose dive and I just feel like, what's the point? Why invest in my lead at all at this point? It's just an endless grind of clicking and hoping dice roll in my favor.

My hunters are a mixed bag and do bring in enough to feed the pack, so there's that. It would be nice to have more control of their odds, though. I should see a difference in their success rate when I'm strategically choosing which type of prey to chase during Winter, for example.

full support honestly. the fighting system is really out of whack, and its plain as daylight to see.

i really want to max out my lead before she dies, to ensure max potential for the next generation. but sometimes i wonder why i bother, honestly. my level 10 wolf shouldn't have the floor wiped by a level 2 enemy. its *so* frustrating because its such a slap in the face.

i might as well roll my face across my mouse as there is no strategy imo. theres no thought on the next best move. just slam a button and hope rnjesus loves you at that moment........

the other enemies stats are clearly just randomly generated. and granted. it adds some flair as that way every battle is not the same/can always be a floor wipe. but the difference in these same animals have such different stats to one another that it sucks. there's no prediction. so alongside the rng attack buttons being very rng (there's really little strategy imo), the other animals stats are rng too from the looks of it. so good luck, cause no two fights will even *close* to being the same, and not in a fun way. its more in a one time you're 100% fine and do excellent, and the other you loose?? which is just whack

i point this out as today i fought a rattle snake, twice - EVERYTHING was the same. both rattle snakes were level 12, i had max hp, a lucky foot was used both times.

outcome 1 for the rattle snake fight i wiped the floor with the noodle boy and came out with 25hp

outcome 2 for the rattle snake fight i almost got my ass whooped, came out with 3hp, would have lost if i did not manage to latch on

and that is just an insane difference. why do one i mop the floor with the noodle, and the other (almost) lose? as i said, if i hadn't gotten "lucky", i would have lost that battle 100%.

i just want to feel in control of my own fights when i pick them. not sit here hoping that i get lucky;;

Yeah, and it gets worse as you get higher level and the XP rewards get smaller and harder to come by.

I honestly don't know if I'll bother with this game once my current (first) lead dies. As pointed out, the RNG strips leveling of any real sense of accomplishment, and once I've got whole map unlocked, the thrill of exploration is done with. There's just not a lot of replay value.
