Reduced Reliance on RNG (from the perspective of a game maker)

I've lost interest in fighting but i explore just to get things for my pack and to sell since i'm trying to get more turf space. Hunting is meh for me at best but i'm only doing just to see who passes and what not :/ It'd be so much worthwhile if things were balanced out esp as the levels get higher and higher to 20. But so far, i'd fight mostly just for the snake quest if i care for it enough and that's not much either sadly |

10000% Support! It shouldn't be as hard as it is to reach small levels like even levels 4 to 6. High stats and large level wolves should not lose to level 1 enemies bc of RNG |

just had to flee a few battles because i got inflicted with bleed immediately despite lucky foot being active :/ i'd been full health and activated the lucky foot on the first fight and now it's just sitting there, wasted, because each fight i got into injured me so bad right away i had no point to run. might as well not use lucky foot at all with how useless it tends to be. it's just a waste of the item and wasting the healing items i want to try and keep a fair stock of. :S |

"Won a battle against a level 1 Eastern Wolf and got +10 EXP! Total energy used: 17. New HP after fight: 13." Current level: 19. Hit points going into that fight: 48. Seriously. This battle system is broken. |

Yeah having a lvl 1 fox kick my lvl 16 wolf's ass is lol and all but it gets old really, really fast. Less RNG nonsense, more actual stat considerations. |

I think that's the developer's way to tell us that we shouldn't battle low level enemies, but it could be done different way. Also, low-level enemies should absolutely not be destroying high level wolves like that. |

No, it happens with pretty much every level. There is almost no appreciable difference in damage dealt and received between lvl 1 vs. lvl 10 fights. So, ultimately, it's the devs way of saying 'we rely way too much on RNG,' there are no other statements being made. That said, anything that is +3 or -3 levels away from your leader wolf's current level shouldn't even show up. A level 1 coyote or fox or w/e should know to GTFO of your way and stay hidden. |

I know it does, that's why I stopped battling anything below my level long time ago :/ I just encountered lvl2 fox in swamp, enemies with such low level should not even be in the more difficult biomes. My lead is lvl16 so there's no point for me to even initiate a battle. |

Typical ways of telling players not to fight below their levels: Reduced exp (in effect here) Reduced loot drops (in effect here) Having low level enemies kick your butt doesn't tell you you shouldn't be fighting low level enemies, really. It does increase scarcity of healing items and drain SC by forcing you to heal far more often if you choose to fight every opponent, but outside of draining an already not common resource, it doesn't accomplish anything. Also, soooo many players don't know you can't get trophy drops if an enemy is more than 5 levels below you. |

A lot of that is thanks entirely to the game's poor documentation. There are player-written guides, yes, but if you're coming in fresh without any idea that those exist, you take the game at its word that Tala's tutorials are all you need to know to get by at a baseline. Baseline being the operative word. Obviously, this is not the case. EDIT: Sorry, Farkitsue, I read your post as way more earnest than I should have, I've gotten entirely too accustomed to people making statements like that and meaning it. Apologies if my response came off as condescending. |
