' Hells... It's too hot. '

Saege's first thought as she groggily blinked her eyes open was a disoriented haze that enveloped her mind. The sharp click and hissing sound of her pod disengaging startled her, sending a jolt through her tired body. With a low groan, she pressed her palm firmly against her forehead, where a dull but relentless throb was buildingโ€”a likely consequence of the insidious infection inflicted upon her by the mindflayers.

After a moment of cradling her throbbing head in her trembling hands, she finally steeled herself to lift it and survey her surroundings. Her green eyes darted around the circular area. The air was thick with the smell of burning and the heat of the flames that crackled on the ground. As she stepped forward away from the pod, she held her silvery-colored hair back as she checked herself for injuries. Thankfully, she had none.

Where am I?

That was the first real concrete thought Casey could muster as strange almost mechanical click reached her ears followed by a loud hiss as whatever device restrained her popped open. The smell of sulfur seemed to hang in the air along with the acrid scent of burning flesh. Gods above... my head is pounding was the next thought to surface though the haze of confusion. She reaches up to lightly rub her temples in what was proving to be a fruitless endeavor to ease the pain holding her in a chokehold. There was no use in sitting here nursing her hurts any longer though she mused. She had to figure out where she was. And when she did.... whomever was behind this cruel prank was going to meet her malice. Yes, that sounded like a good idea.

She hops down from the strange pod, turning around to survey the device. It appeared to be a gross amalgamation of machinery and living matter. The floor of whatever this place was seemed to almost pulse with life as well... and slime. Lots of slime she notes with disgust, brushing her hand off against the side of her armor. She'd need to wash it later. But for now she had other more pressing matters to focus on.

Saege approached the pool at the center with caution, puzzled by the strange yellow liquid that filled it. Its dark yet vibrant hue seemed almost unnatural, casting an eerie glow across the surroundings. As she drew closer to the edge, the surface of the pool gently rippled, suggesting that something mysterious lay hidden in its depths.

Peering into the liquid, she muttered to herself, keeping her hands steady. "It looks like even the slightest touch could set this offโ€ฆ" She stepped away from it, looking around the circular area once more, her eyes landing on Casey.

Casey's ears twitch slightly as another voice catches her by surprise. It didn't seem as though what was being said was addressing her specifically, but it seemed that she wasn't alone in here. Wherever here was. She turns slightly away from the pod to search for the source of the other voice. It didn't take long for her to locate what appeared to be another elf. A friendly face perhaps? She takes a step back as a small creature scuttles past her feet.... a brain? On legs? Hells... it couldn't be.

"Do you know where we are?" She asks, her mismatched gaze shifting pensively back over to the other elf. Her head was still swimming. That seemed the most logical question to ask in the moment. Introductions could probably wait. Whatever this place was, something wasn't right.

Saege's gaze followed the brain as it scurried across the fleshy floor, her features briefly contorting in a mix of disgust and revulsion. A shiver ran down her spine, but she quickly masked her emotions, her face settling into a nearly blank expression. After a moment, she shifted her focus back to Casey, her eyes revealing nothing of the discomfort she had just experienced.

"I don't. I wish I did, but I don't," Saege said calmly as she moved away from the pool of yellow liquid. "That's what they pulled that.. Thing from." She waved a hand towards the pool.

"That thing?" Casey asks, her right brow lifting slightly in confusion. She takes a step closer to pool of yellow liquid, peering inside. Several strange little creatures were swimming around in the caustic looking liquid. They looked almost like tadpoles, but they appearance to have tentacles of sorts near what she could only assume must be their faces. What were they? Was that what was causing her pounding headache? Or was it something else?

The whole... whatever this place was seemed to shake as she took a step back from the pool. "That doesn't seem good." She mutters. What could have caused the room to shake like that. A distant roar seems to echo from far away. Dragons?

"Yes, that one. Don't touch it," Saege warned, her voice low and urgent as she drew closer to the strange, fleshy 'door' that marked the entrance to the 'room.' The surface writhed slightly, resembling a living organism, and it curled inward like a spiraling shell, its texture unsettlingly smooth.

Disgust washed over her, similar to how she felt when she spotted the brain scurrying along, though it disappeared just as quickly as it did before. She glanced back at Casey, her eyes seeming dull despite their strikingly dark yet bright color. "Do you want to find out what's causing this?" she asked, a hint of a southern accent coloring her voice.

"I suppose we probably should check it out... I'm not sure how much more this place can take." Casey says, brushing one of her curls out of her face. The air was heavy with smoke. And where there was smoke, there was usually fire. If whatever this place was truly on fire, then they were in danger. They needed to get out of here. But that was easier than said when it seemed that neither of them even knew where 'here' was.

The floor seemed to shake violently again. What could be causing that? Nothing good, she could at least be certain of that much. Was this a ship of some sort? It did seem to be moving, and fast at that.

Saege parted her lips, ready to say something, but her voice caught in her throat as the heavy, pulsing door opened. It revealed a room similar to the one they were in, with tall walls that seemed almost alive. The sudden movement sent a shiver down her spine, and she froze, her breath hitching in anticipation of what lay beyond.

"That's.. Unsettling." She whispered to herself as she carefully stepped through the opening created by the 'door.' In the center, there appeared to be an elevator, with a higher platform just above it. On the other side of the space, several glowing, sphere-shaped objects rested on surfaces that resembled desks.
