If you enter the befriending screen then choose to leave, fight, or even fail to befriend that wolf it will be deleted. However when you come across the encounter and have the options (fight) (befriend) and choose (fight) or continue to explore no wolf is deleted as no wolf is generated at that point. Just adding this last part since there will be another T3 chase event and it was a concern the last time.

In terms of not chasing so called potato pups upon birth, for me it's a mix of potential reasons. Sometimes I'm feeling attached if they're from a special line to me (this isn't often hard for me to overcome, but I've seen other folks particularly attached to their pixels). Sometimes it's a matter of good stats and short or rare lineages, or their calculated price is above my auto-chase level. Those I often put up until they're about to age and occasionally forget to pull down and chase before they age up. Sometimes I don't have the energy/mental capacity to go through my pups and figure out which ones are 'worthless' or not and then don't remember to go through them again later.

Ideally I'd remember all the time, but neither the world nor brains are ideal and sometimes a few slip through the cracks. It's sucky but there aren't currently alternatives to chasing beyond starving/sicking them out. If space is at a premium, then unfortunately they're getting yeeted. It doesn't feel great to get a rechased NBW (or NBW lookalike, or 'potato'). I know. I try to avoid it as much as possible, and I'm sure others in this group and beyond do as well (after all, that's kinda the whole idea behind the R&C group! Get some nice variety in the chased pool!). Hopefully, between that and this new thinger (admittedly it's so far requested I hand over hetero eyes, T3s, and luna/selene features, so I stopped trying for now), we'll see less and less 'potato' pups being chased as adults.
