New Feed/Play System: Stockpiles

I REALLY like this idea. It offers more control than feed all / play all by letting you choose which items get eaten, and saves you the massive amount of clicking & loading in manual feeding/playing. Great solution that seems like much better gameplay. |

I like the idea, but what about instead of them automatically feeding/playing at rollover, you have to click something to let them access the stockpile? That way, people who don't want to feed/play with their wolves from the stockpile for a day don't have to. Such as those who get a NBW who is still on a chase cooldown before logging off that they want to chase who would instead gobble food/toys at rollover from the stockpile. Or people who have wolves for sale and want to wait until the last minute to feed/play so they're not taking care of wolves that sell that day. And I actually quite like the idea of illness preventing them from using the stockpiles, but maybe every illness should do that? It'll give people a reason to heal wolves from anything rather than intentionally infecting them with a low-consequence illness (like fleas) as an attempt to prevent other illnesses. |

I don't really like the thought of still having to click something for my wolves to access a stockpile. Feels too much like Feed All / Play All at that point. I already spend most of a day forgetting to feed/play with my wolves. It'd just be same issue, same task to forget but only put down to 1 click. I'd rather stockpile be automatic so that the only thing I'd have to worry about is maintaining what's in it. Maybe the option to exclude certain caves from using stuff in the stockpile instead. That way if you have wolves you don't want to feed like NBWs you can just put them there and they won't affect anything. Or you can mark which wolves have access to the stockpile individually, giving you more control that way. |

I think the stockpile being automatic but allowing you to mark some wolves or caves as not having access makes sense. :> |

honestly i'm kind of surprised this isn't at least sort of the way Feed All/Play All already works; i don't have the money to spend to get it, but even if i did, i wouldn't want to use it because i'm very particular about what i feed my wolves (i tend to save my bigger carcasses and 1-3 use food items for selling, and prioritize feeding by what's closest to going bad; i also often don't bother feeding my lead wolf since it's fairly easy to do so just by exploring) and i don't think it lets you sort out what you do and don't want to be fed to them unless you bury what you want to keep. still, that detail aside, since this still has a certain level of manual involvement, i think it's a nice "free to play" sort of compromise between our current free methods and FAPA. perhaps if this were to be involved in some sort of overhaul of FAPA, there could be GC options to allow you to, as i think a few others have said, have your stockpiles automatically fill, but perhaps also features like being able to filter/specify what gets added to your stockpiles by number of uses/whether or not it has full uses, days until rotten(for food), and specific items (like a specific toy or carcass types/sizes); being able to have multiple food and toy stockpiles and assign different caves to different piles; excluding certain wolves from using them; and so on. either way, i think
implementing this core stockpile idea would probably require making some small changes
to other related systems, but overall i would say i support it! |

I support this. For food, the wolves would probably eat the most rotted food first, unless it was on 1 day or rotting or whatever. And it would be very important, to me, that you could choose to have items in or out of the stockpile so your wolves don't accidentally eat/play with something you need for a quest, or something. I think it would be helpful to have an option in settings for "Auto-add new items to stockpile", or something similar: it would probably be automatically turned on, and you'd have to choose items to remove from the stockpile, but if it was turned off you'd have to choose what items to move into the stockpile. I also think you should be able to choose wolves not to feed from the stockpile. Such as your lead wolf, or a NBW you don't want to waste your resources on, or something. If someone already suggested something like this, I only really read the first post, so I have no idea if this was already suggested in this thread. |

@speedyscout The idea was you would have to fill up the stockpile manually (which inherently prevents items from being consumed without the player's will), with 'auto-fill' and auto rot removal features being the replacement premium feature for feed all/play all, since I figure the staff probably don't want to completely remove the paid convenience aspect from the feeding system. |

Support! I love this idea. I'm horrible about remembering to do this and it has struck me as silly that my wolves will lay around all hungry and bored and unhappy, waiting for their pack leader to carry over some food (which presumably is all laying in a pile like, right there) and be like "eat this deer, you look hungry." Or carry over a toy, hand it to them, and watch them play. Anyone who has ever owned a dog knows that this is wildly unrealistic. Dog is hungry and food is right there? Eat the food! Dog is bored? Oh look a toy, doggo plays! Anyways. Support wholeheartedly. |

I massively support this. It would be so fun, so much easier, so much more realistic. It would resolve a lot of the issues with the tediousness/repetitiveness of the current feeding and playing system, which is really time consuming and taxing for players with RSI/health conditions. I think rather than have the feeding/playing action happen automatically at rollover, it would be best if you have to click a button to make it happen, much like Feed all/Play all currently is. Feed all/Play all could then become completely automatic and happen of itself at rollover. This way, it still has some value since it removes the need to remember to click 'feed/play', much as the automatic nesting removes the need to click 'nest'. The discrepancy between the two would be less than it is now, which is a great bonus. I cannot express how much I want this and how much it would improve the game. I really, really hope this suggestion is implemented. |

As other folks have said, I feel like this both makes more sense realistically and would cut down on repetitive clicking - support <: |
