Event: The Matchmaker

What is the point of this "If you didn't receive a new dateable NPC for completing today's Eranthis quest, you can now complete the quest again to get the NPC."?
I got Lorcan from the quest at the morning, should I get new dateable? Or does that mean that when i did not get any of the new datebles, should I get another wolf now?

Friend of mine got second dateable NPC, but then again me and some other friends did not get any more wolves than the one from the morning. We are so confused!

I believe it was a fix for NB players because they/we did not get an NPC for our daily today before the pool was fixed

I am not a fan of the playersexual thing. Like someone on the previous page stated, it erases representation :< i hope the next year all genders gets equal pool of datables so we can have differnt wolves for each gender option

I highly doubt the ruling on every NPC liking everybody will change. As Xylax said, this was based on a poll and the majority of players wanted the NPCs to be 'playersexual' permanently, not just as a temporary fix for the imbalance situation.

While I find it unfortunate, it's what the players want.

The thing about playersexual gameplay is that, in my opinion,
1. It makes sense when the pools are still uneven, so that NB characters aren't royally fucked over again, and
2. It makes sense when there aren't that many dateable characters yet
Once we get enough dateables and the pools are even, it's not going to work as well because now people who prefer the NPCs having sexualities (me) are going to be upset they're getting characters who don't like their wolf's gender as usual and now people who like the characters being playersexual aren't going to be happy because they won't be able to feasibly unlock and complete every character in the event (unless devs stop releasing characters, which would be a shame imo).

If the imbalance was fixed & everyone was given a equal chance to get the new wolves them not being player sexual would be okay.

Thinking about it some, they could make new wolves be player sexual for the first year & also some of the first ones unlocked (so everyone has a chance to earn them without being screwed by RNG), then the next year they go to being based on the sexualities  they are. That would fix the problem or, at least better then it is currently.

For me this event is fine now as it is with the wolfs being in favor of flirting with all leaders. ^^

I really hope more things will be implemented in the future to keep things from getting dull  but overall this is a fine event so far.

I think the playersexual works perfectly -- it allows everyone to have a chance to get all wolves makes it fair to all involved. It doesn't take from representation and it allows everyone to romance. Taking rep would be removing the nb/trans wolves themselves, which they aren't.

I, and a majority of the community, seem to agree and wish for this to be permanent.

I wish a compromise could be reached, though- I just got a wolf who only likes female, and not my chosen gender today, and that's essentially a complete waste of a slot because I'm not going to date him. To throw out some ideas:
- What if, at the start of the story, Eranthis asks you if you'd like the choice between playersexual & not? Theoretically, once you've gotten all the wolves who like your chosen gender, it would pick from the whole pool, so players who prefer sexualities will get wolves who like them and won't have wasted space.
- There's a suggestion floating around about reframing dates with wolves who don't like your gender as being QPRs (with the addition of being able to enter a QPR with wolves who do like your gender). I also really like this suggestion.
- The option to dismiss a wolf from your selection of dateables and reroll, possibly? Again, I'm not going to do anything with the wolf I rolled today, which will lose me some currency. I'm also just not that interested in a huge chunk of the wolves I've rolled, I also don't want to be mean to them, and I'd rather get some that I'm more interested in.

I also do like the idea proposed by @/Ironbeast above about most of the wolves not being playersexual except for the new editions and weighting the pool so that you can unlock them quicker. Don't know if this would be nice for people who prefer playersexual but I like it at least.

Judging by the comments on news posts people like me who dislike playersexual gameplay are not enjoying it the way it is, so I think it would be best if some sort of compromise is reached. On the second poll, playersexuality won with 670 votes, and sexuality preferences were second place with 417(!) votes (and "I don't care" got 211 votes), which I think is still a sizeable portion of the playerbase and it sucks we're being screwed over a little with this, even if playersexual won fair and square. There's plenty of ideas to make it work for all different players.

@Ironbeast They weren't always player sexual. They were when the event was initially introduced. Last year, you were only able to get NPCs that were attracted to the gender you picked at the start of the dating storyline. It was like this for this year up until the random change.

In general terms, it absolutely does take away the queer representation from the NPCs. Yes, the NPCs have different gender identities. However, the NPCs had established sexual orientations and preferences. By removing that aspect, it takes away from the representation and diversity. If there was an NPC decor you wanted, they were always available in the trading center. There are also some who will give them away if requested. It's not like they aren't accessible.

If there was an imbalance, as time goes on I'm sure the team will take the feedback and add more to fix this issue. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with this change.
