inkyorchid she stood and padded after the two toms, last in the line of three. she focused on the ground, suddenly very hot, even in the shade. her black pelt was not helping her to cool off. she noticed oakear trip, but didn't say anything. after walking for a while, she lifted her head and spoke up. "are we going to hunt together, or split up?" |

He opened his jaws to answer the she-cat but paused at Oakear's words. He was was right, there was an odd scent coming from the direction they were going. He stopped walking with one paw in the air and opened his mouth to draw the scent in. "It's almost familiar." He mewed, his voice deep and quiet. Though just like Oakear he could not place it. He cautiously started forward again, his nose twitching as he drew nearer. |

As him and the patrol walked back to camp, Tigerstorms mind was swirling with what had almost happened. Why is that smell slightly familiar? Do I know those cat's? As they approached the camp the scent of his clan washed over him and he froze. That's it! That's why it's so familiar, They're clan cats! "That's it!" He said aloud without offering an explanation for his outburst. |

He turned to his clanmates both excitement and confusion in his eyes. "They're clan cats!" He exclaimed. "That's why the scent is so familiar, it's the smell of many cats living together in one environment until they share one scent!" He explained as his tail whipped in the air. "We've got to tell Hickorystar!" |
