Questions about stud values and bases

Questions about stud values and bases
Posted 23 hours ago
Hi yall, I'm looking ahead to a new stud project and wondering how I can maximize value. I've been told that t3 breed only bases are typically more valuable to people that are looking for studs than t*s. Is this true? Also how do you know if a t3 base is breed only? Also, as far as eyes go, which are the most valuable? Thanks!

Not universally true! Some T*s, like the combo base apps (luna, moonlight, selene, and losna) are very desirable. I don't think you'll ever lose value using a T* base in a pinch. Use the "search" button in the crossroads and see how many other studs have that base - the less competition you have with the base, the higher you can price your stud.

Almost all T3 bases are breed only, barring only 3 craftable T3 bases (fox, badger, and caribou).

Raffle eyes. Raffle eyes. Raffle eyes. People are absolutely insane about raffle eyes. They're frothing at the mouth, drooling, weeping, and offering their firstborns for raffle eyes. If you're looking to appeal to the widest audience, having a stud with raffle eyes is the goal. If by miracle you get the new raffle eyes that came out last week + are coming out this week/next week, you'll be rolling in cones, lol.

Personally, I've got a good stud that doesn't have raffle eyes; she uses an eye applicator from the August event that only has one other G1 stud with them. When you don't have raffle eyes on your side, slap an eye applicator on them, preferably one that doesn't have much other competition and that looks good on your stud.

Also, going for a G1 stud is your best bet for value. You can get away with a G2, although they have lower value than G1s. If you do try your best to get a piebald or patches mutation on it. Anything higher doesn't tend to sell for nearly as much.

Tldr, the desirable traits are low gen, raffle eyed, T3 or T* bases that have good/pretty marks, mutations, and high stats. The less competition you have, the higher you can price it. You can always price check with other players if you're unsure the worth of your stud or what people would be willing to pay for them, too, so never feel like you have to suffer alone if you're unsure.

Thank you!! That's super helpful. Is there a list of all raffle eyes that's updated regularly?

Raffle eyes are overrated.  I have a stud with high stats, a rare stat specialty (stalkers are in shortage), MOD pointed, only a few other studs of the same t* base, and smoke eyes (RAFFLE EYES that fail to other exclusive eyes).  Above all, a fairly low price, and he doesn't sell well at all.
