Chased Wolf Spotting!!!

Posted 2021-06-22 12:31:33

@Ivalo there's no limit, see the screenshot from this thread: https://www.wolvden.com/chatter/topic/335223

Q: How long after a wolf is chased can it appear in explore?

A: The earliest it can appear for befriending is after a varying amount of time (12-48 hours) after being chased. Once a wolf is placed into the chased pool, it will stay there until it is pulled into Befriending (chased wolves waiting in the pool are not deleted from the pool.)

though it's worth noting that the 12-48 hours thing is false. during the first t3 chase event people noticed wolves were being found earlier than that, there was at least one that was found 2hrs after being chased.

@ eve Oh okay! Thank you for correcting me, I don’t remember who told me there’s a limit or if I just made it up in my head. The more you know! Maybe that’s the most common time it takes for them to be found.

Yeah but does that mean that if we chased, like, 10 times more than we do now during the event, every NBW would be a chased? Even for just-got-to-lvl10 people? How do they choose when to give us a chased and when a normal NBW? Is there a quota of max chased per day? Or per NBW encounter, so people who play more have the same percentage of chased? If there is a quota, it's clearly not been reached yet.

We've had confirmation, thanks to eve, that not all chased make it to the "chase pool" (I don't see where they say the pool's size is not finite?). Do a fixed percentage always make it to the pool? Is the pool finite with a spot that opens up when a wolf disappears (either befriended, failed to be befriended, or encountered but chosen not to befriended)? Is the pool's possibly finite size relative to the total number of players? Or of lvl 10+ players? Or of wolves? If the pool's size is finite, it's clearly not full yet.

There are a hundred different ways it could work (mainly about how they enter the pool, and when they leave), but I feel like you seeing more chased those days is an important information for people who want to figure it out or make hypotheses.

I dont remember where, but I saw something that said roughly 1 in 33 encounters is a chased.

And when we did our first t3 chase, it was roughly 1 in five chased wolves makes it into the pool. The rest are deleted.

We've had answers to various questions about the chasing mechanics. Here's the answer I got to my question, which was about whether the pool had a fixed size (and whether we should hold off chasing T1s/T2s during T3 chase events):
