Chased Wolf Spotting!!!

Posted 2022-08-07 20:45:40
I think there should be a seperate thread for chased wolf sales. If everybody is commenting about sales in the thread it's going to become messy and hard to sort through.
I'd prefer if there was a thread simply for the chased wolves and another for general chatter, like telling someone congrats or in this case trade offers. So similar to this thread. I see some people get annoyed here with the congratulations.

I don't think it'd be a bad idea for someone to set up a seperate thread for chased wolf sales/pricechecks/giveaways in the sales forum. I would do it myself but I'm on mobile atm. It's something that would definitely help de-clutter the main thread because all sales enquiries and questions would be moved there

I agree, keep chatter to a minimum, the original post was really just to show you even saw a chased
Good ole EA days
But now there's a lot more people contributing to the chased pool and it's more important that you caught the wolf, then just saw it made it in

Okay this is generally what I've gotten from our conversation so far (just putting it all in one place so people dont have to read the 80 replies haha):

1. Keep chatter to the chat thread, though quick congratulations & questions are okay
2. If a wolf is for trade or sale the finder can say so in their post, but it's inappropriate to ask in the main thread. This includes asking if they are keeping the wolf or if you can message them.
3. The finder can specify if they would like to be contacted about their wolf, but unless they say you can, please refrain
3. Asking for price checks in your first post is okay, but keep replies to the DMs
4. Remember that once you chase a wolf, you no longer own it, and cannot control what happens to it
5. Don't outright insult the wolves you find - it's rude to the chaser
6. You are welcome to post rechased wolves

HTML FAQ

GENERAL PRICING ADVICE
1. Post a forum thread asking for pricing (there is a price check forum under "stockpile" for this purpose)
2. Ask on a discord server or the main chat
3. Post your wolf for offers and see what you get
4. Always get more than one opinion

PROOF OF CHASE GUIDELINES
Valid proof of chase should, at the least, include:
      1. A screenshot of the wolf with your username next to "owned by" and a screenshot of the wolf's markings
It may also come in the form of:
    1. Forum posts in a record forum dated before the wolf was found.
    2. A wayback machine link to the original wolf's page, before it was chased
Keep in mind that edited forum posts may be untrustworthy, as the time stamp could be incorrect
Ultimately, it is up to the wolf's finder to decide whether or not they believe your proof and would like to act on it

Potential chased wolf sales & pricing thread being discussed

EDIT: Added proof of chase guidelines

2. If a wolf is for trade or sale the finder can say so in their post, but it's inappropriate to ask in the main thread. This includes asking if they are keeping the wolf or if you can message them.

I'd add. Just because those can sneak around.

Also proof of wolf needs to probably be updated to this.

4. Valid proof of chase must, at the least, include a screenshot of the wolf with your username next to "owned by" and a screenshot of the wolf's markings OR forum posts in a record forum dated before the wolf was found.

@Ghost -That is a good start. Thank you.
For #4 I would say it should include markings and shows time of chase in some way that has not been edited. Just posting the picture without the markings, or posting in a thread that doesn't include time could be iffy. Same as a thread that you edit everyday to add more.

@Karma- I meant more for the wording of telling someone you chased a wolf. There is a world of difference between saying "I chased that one, so glad he made it" as opposed to "that's one of mine" which I have seen both of on here. Newer or inexperienced players are going to feel pressured or obligated by the wording of the second one as opposed to just being happy to know who chased it and maybe interested in finding out the lineage.

Oh thanks to Slothie for suggesting the forum records addition as I was about to mention that myself!

And Ghost those rules look really good! The idea of including a FAQ in the og rules post(s) is a really good idea

Hmmmm @Snowcat13 I'm worried we're getting too detailed here. I can't think of a way to categorically prove time of chase with forum editing. Can you? ;;

How do we feel about my rule 4.5 addition, so people know each individual is going to decide what they're comfortable with on their own?
