Mechanically, here's how it could work: - For every pup being sat, there's a small chance to get either a +1 or (rarely) a +2 bonus, subject to the overall 2/day limit for pack members. (So, for example, if the pupsitter already got +2 bonus stats from teaching lessons that day, they couldn't gain additional stats.) - Regarding what stat to give, I can think of a couple possibilities: (1) Just give speed. It's the canonical pupsitter stat, since pupsitters teach the three-hour speed lesson, and it's simple to implement. It's also arguably the most useful stat (again, due to lessons). (2) Give stats based on the highest stat of each pup. For instance, suppose a pupsitter is sitting a pup whose best stat is strength. If the pupsitter successfully rolls a stat on that pup, they'd gain +1 strength. Pups could be rolled in order of wolf ID, and, as mentioned, once you get your +2 stats, you can't get any more that day. This option is nice for flavor (if you're disciplining a strong pup, you've gotta be strong! if you're sitting on a wily pup who keeps trying to slip out of the den, you can't be outwitted by him!) but might be more complex to implement. |

I would prefer the chance of getting the stat to be linked to time spent pupsitting rather than how many pups. All the other roles gain stats based on timed events (hunting, scouting, foraging/medicine making). So, maybe every 3 hours spent assigned to at least one pup during the day earns them a chance to gain the stat. It could all accumulate (so, if they pupsat for all 24 hours that day, they could roll for a stat gain 8 times at rollover). But of course, once they hit the 2 stat cap they would stop rolling. This would put them closer to having similar chances as our other wolves (hunters get 10 chances if you get all hunts in.) |

In my pack, the majority of my wolves are pup-sitters because I focus on breeding. Pup-sitters are an undervalued role, but without them, your entire litter of puppies WILL die. They need more love! |

For example: chosen stat - 0-150 no bonus 150 - 200 +3% to any pup protected OR an extra 6% to share 200 - 250 +5% to any pup protected OR an extra 10% to share 250 + +7% to any pup protected OR an extra 15% to share Nothing life-changing, but it would help make the profession more playable |
