the rare NBW mystery....... solved

the rare NBW mystery....... solved
Posted 2020-11-21 15:24:21

i wanted to share this story cause it was kinda wild, and also so others can do what i did if they ever come across a similar puzzling situation!

so i recently reached level 15-16, and have only seen a few 'rare' wolves while exploring since, usually just wolves with the glass eye trait.
but just now, i came across this wolf:

i was very confused, since for the life of me, i could Not figure out what was 'special' about this wolf, and what constituted it having a star.
i showed it to some friends for feedback, and no one could come up with an answer; the coat (khaki), marking (beige elbow), eyes, skin, claws, nose... all were basic traits.

i tried to befriend her, but unfortunately RNG was not in my favor on the first interaction, and she ended up leaving. however, i was still puzzling over what made her special.

finally, i decided to try and use image editing to manipulate the initial screenshot i took of of this wolf...
and lo and behold......

this is what was revealed to me. take note of the darker head, paws, and tail; she has the newly released 'point' marking, most likely at 1% opacity! almost entirely invisible to the naked eye.

for better reference, here's a unmarked khaki coat, with boosted color contrast / saturation:

please learn from this tale........ if you ever come across a 'basic' looking wolf that still has a star marking, i highly recommend taking a screenshot to an editing program and pushing those saturation and contrast sliders up to 100%, cause you may be surprised at what you find. hahaha

I thought star just meant that someone chased them...

A falling star with a big tail means someone chased them; a plain star like that (or more than one) means it's a special NBW.

Oh ok... I haven't really come across any with stars, but that's what I was told. I got two glass eyed NBWs off the trading center for practically nothing.

The other day I came across a completely white rare NBW and managed to befriend them because I was ???? at how they were rare

turns out he had white shading at 1% 😭

I found one that looked just like her, and managed to befriend it- she had one star. Can someone please tell me what her special trait is?

@-Ally
Was it a shooting purple/pink star? Because that to me looks like a rechase, which is your average NBW just chased into the chased pool.
Since you lead is lvl 10, you cannot come across rarity wolves, you could've also mistaken the star for it's personality as a gold rarity star.
