Welcome To Taigārabu Pack You make your way through the deciduous forest with care, your senses alert for any sounds, any at all. The fact that it's so silent is what unsettles you. Shaking out your fur, you continue walking, distracting yourself by taking in the scenery. The trees are slowly baring, their leaves fluttering down to the forest floor. The grass isn't completely covered with leaves as of now, but you could only imagine what it'd look like later on in the autumn. For some reason, looking at the forest's dreamlike aura makes you yawn, the fatigue of travel finally weighing down on you. Maybe you could sit down, rest a little. No one would mind, right? After all, you hadn't crossed any pack borders, as far as you were concerned. You make your way over to a large-trunked tree. Turning in a few circles, you finally settle down, curling your body up. You drape your tail over your nose and can't help but doze off in this beautiful place. ~ - - - - - - - ~ You were wakened by a snuffling sound. Twitching your ears, you open one eye out of curiosity and end up jumping back in surprise, your hackles raising from instinct. There, standing before you, is a beautiful snowy she-wolf. She takes a step back, light confusion etched across her features, but you can tell by the way that her chocolate brown eyes scanned you that she was a very observant female. Her light brown nose twitches as she takes in your scent. "You aren't from around here, are you?" She asks in a light voice. It sounds nice, but you feel like if you listened to it for too long, it would become annoying. "Why does it matter?" You snap, peeling back your lip to reveal your sharp cuspids. "Well, it'd be rude not to tell a resident who you are and where you come from." The she-wolf hummed, her ears swivelling casually, as if she were comfortable in this situation. Wait, resident? You ask yourself. You hadn't crossed any borders, had you? At least, not that you could smell. You relax your face, but your fur stays spiked. "Well... who I am doesn't matter, but, yes, I am not from around here." "Well, that's all I needed to know." She says, giving you a sort of... smile? You shake your head, tilting an ear in confusion. "You... well, where is your pack, if you are a resident as you claim?" You inquire, pressed against the thick bark of the tree you had slept beside. "Not far from here, actually. You are just outside of our borders. I am a glad member of the Taigārabu Pack, and I spend my days as a Scout. I actually came across you on my way out of camp. I was going to scout the Riparian Woodlands for materials for my Alpha." You perk your ears, taking in all this information with a tinge of curiosity. "So... if I were to follow you back to said camp, I'd possibly see your... leader?" "My Alpha, yes. He is quite intimidating at first glance, but once you get to know him, he is quite amiable." The white she-wolf chirped, beckoning for you to stand up with a forepaw. "Would you like to meet him?" You take this offer into serious consideration. Hunger scraped at your belly, and exhaustion was your downfall every day, traveling through territory after territory with the fear of being killed for taking a wrong step. If you were able to convince this... Alpha that you were worthy, would he let you join their pack? "I believe I would." You decide, nodding. ~ - - - - - - - ~ You followed the white she-wolf warily, and, indeed, it only took a little bit before you could smell the boundaries of Taigārabu Pack. As you cross them, the female skips ahead, and you can hear her voice further in the woods, announcing your arrival. Interested and outré voices murmur in response. As you walk into a clearing, you see a variety of wolves looking at you, ranging from pups, adolescents, pregnant dams, and more. You suddenly wonder if you should be regretting your decision, but none of their gazes look hostile whatsoever. Towards the back of the clearing, you see a large rock jutting out of the ground. There looks to be a hole in the center of it, and you jump when you see two figures, drastically different in size, suddenly walk out of it. "What is this talk of a loner?" The brown one asks. You notice that she is smaller than the average wolf, but she looks beautiful nevertheless. Her blue eyes settle on you, and you hear a small hum come from her. Your eyes shift over to the white and black wolf standing beside her. He is definitely taller than the average wolf, and you see that his yellow eyes are boring into yours. You feel your blood run cold, and you are barely stopping yourself from shaking in front of all of these wolves. "Kōsetsu, who is this?" He asks, not taking his eyes off of you. "Alpha Dire Sköll, this is the loner I found near our borders. They appeared harmless. Look at their state, Alpha. Can we take them in, if only temporarily?" The white she-wolf asks, and you can hear the pure respect in her voice as she addresses him. Dire. You replay in your head. It definitely described the male, and you even wonder how he was so tall. Silence stills the clearing, and it feels like only you and the Alpha are there. Finally, his gaze shifts away, towards who you assume is his mate by the way his eyes suddenly softened as he looked at the brown female. She meets his eyes. They whisper softly to one another before you see the small she-wolf nod. "Taigārabu is open to all, as long as they prove their place," Alpha Sköll says, turning his yellow hues back to you. A collective sigh is released in the clearing, and you smile. The chill within you is gone, and is instead replaced by a warmth you've never felt before. "Welcome to Taigārabu Pack." |:| The Story Of Kaen |:| A strong breeze swept through the frosty peaks belonging to the pack of Elysian Hunt, chilling a warm-coated she-wolf. She drew back her lip slightly in distaste of the cold, and when she huffed, her breath came out as a misty cloud and was swept away by the wind. Oh, how she couldn't wait to move away from her homelands to somewhere colder. Not the plains; no, it was too open. The cold would be brought down from the mountains. Maybe the forests, more preferably the thick-treed coniferous forest... the trees would help shelter her. As her mind wandered, the she-wolf even imagined how warm the deserts would feel, but she guessed it would be hotter. Why resemble heat when there is none? Kaen wondered, a harsh chill convulsing her body. She laid down on her belly, clenching her jaw at the bitter cold that met her skin, and she quickly curled up, shoving her nose underneath her brush. Oh, Skoll. Get here soon. The reason she was out here at the edge of Elysian Hunt's territory was that she was being traded over. Not because her parents didn't want her, no, but because she'd basically begged to go anywhere other than the mountains, the tundra, and especially the glaciers. She couldn't even imagine how wolves lived on the ice floats. They had agreed and turned to a friend to take her under his wing. All they told her was that his name was Alpha Skoll, and she would enjoy the weather there much more than in the mountains. It's not my fault I was born a bit differently. Kaen told herself. She ensured this in her mind as soon as she found out she wasn't thick-furred like the rest of her siblings, and even more widely, her pack. She had a short coat, and it was not helpful whatsoever in the terribly cold mountains. The red and saffron she-wolf closed her white eyes tightly as the wind began to pick up and snow suddenly began falling thickly. She already knew if she were to open her eyes, she wouldn't be able to see beyond her own nose. Kaen pressed her body closer to the pine tree she was sheltered under, as if she were seeking warmth from another wolf. "Hello, young one." A deep voice said suddenly, startling Kaen. She looked up quickly, barely making out the figure of a black and white wolf. What caught her attention, though, were the blazing yellow eyes staring at her. Further down were a set of blue hues. They seemed softer, but also cut off, as if the wolf were squinting to see. The warm-coated she-wolf's hackles rose, and she bared her fangs the slightest bit. "Who are you?" She inquired with a light snarl, her white eyes flittering about, looking for more wolves. If this were an ambush from an invading pack, she might as well be dead already. "Did your parents not tell you?" He chuckled, taking a few steps forward as if he held no fear from the adolescent. She admitted that she didn't look that intimidating, but would he at least be worried that he was clearly on enemy territory? The smaller wolf, who Kaen could now see was a brown and black one, followed quickly, pressing themself against the large male. Large is an understatement. Kaen gulped, her ears ticking backwards as she angled her head upwards to keep maintain eye contact with the male. A whimper was stuck in her throat, and she forced it away, not wanting to seem weak in front of the strangers. "Just tell me who you are!" She barked, digging her nails into the freshly-snowed ground. The blizzard around them whistled loudly in her ears, but Kaen kept her eyes on the wolves. "Why, I am Alpha Dire Skoll of Taigarabu Pack, and this here is my mate, Kasana. I am here to take you to your new home. Your fighting spirit intrigues me." Skoll admitted, a tiny grin spreading across his face. The smaller wolf beside him, Kasana, nodded in agreement. "I'm glad your parents contacted us to take you in. Taigarabu will be grateful for another addition to the pack." Kaen's jaw dropped as she realized she had been acting and talking that way to an alpha, the alpha who was taking her in, nonetheless. Her heart jumped, and her hackles went down in an instant. "Please forgive me for acting so inappropriately." She said quickly, lowering her head. "Do not apologize." Skoll rumbled, biting back a chuckle. "This blizzard has us all blind. It never snows this hard in the forest. Speaking of the forest, let's get you home before you get sick." The she-wolf scrambled to her paws as soon as he said 'forest'. A forest! Great! Thank you, mother and father. She yelped in her mind, and she couldn't control the wagging of her tail behind her. "I'm ready, Alpha Dire Skoll!" She smiled. Kasana beckoned her forward with a flick of her paw, and Kaen quickly got between the two alphas, relishing in their sandwiched warmth as they began to walk through the snow, towards the warm-coated she-wolf's new home. I won't forget this moment. |
