“Maybe...” she said as Kassie walked away. She sat outside the den and guarded the pack while they slept. She knew she couldn’t sleep.

Kassie woke up the next morning to go patrolling with Z.  Nothing out of the ordinary was out of place. They came back an hour later with a medium carcass, but Kassie wouldnt eat any of it. she just sat alone and looked up at the tree tops. wondering about what Adelite had told her the other day.

Adelite padded up to her. “What’s up? You need to eat.” She nuzzled her head.

Kassie whined 'i know.. im just thinking about what you told me the other day.. ill join you and the others in a minute" she said nuzzling her back 

"I know who you have feelings for, Adelite" Kassie said simply. She looked at her before giving a smile " its me, isnt it"

Adelite was frozen solid. Her feet felt rooted to the ground but her face remained as neutral as it could. “Is that a bad thing?” She asked cautiously.

"no.. of course not, Adelite. I just wasnt expecting it, is all" kassie said sitting by her. " but, why me and not Z?" 

Adelite sat down. “I like Z, but not that way I guess. I just don’t know how to tell him. You’re strong and brave and...” she drifted off, not wanting to embarrass herself.

" I am the leader. I am supposed to be brave and strong, Adelite. You will to, if you follow my lead. Your lead potential, you really are." she nuzzled her and licked her  head gently
