pronoun changes?

Posted 2021-06-23 11:59:16

I'm aware of the same-sex pair bonds, I just don't see why everything needs a label.

What do you men by label? :o

If you find them silly, then just don't use them. No one would be forced to, it would simply be there for those who want to use them.

what label?

if you're talking about pronouns, wolvden is already labelling all of our wolves.

@Icewolf

this thread isn't related to sexualities. We're asking to be able to choose our wolves pronouns - for example, my stud is male, but in my lore she's female, so I'd like it if I could have the game refer to her as she.

Hey everyone- please don't respond to the negative comment. It may start a fight that will get the thread taken down, and odds are they are just saying things to get us irritated.

Are you referring to my comment? It wasn't meant to be negative, it's just my opinion on this topic and it wasn't meant to stir things up. Adios.

Big support! most of my wolves characters don't match the sex/gender they are labelled as in game so I'd love to be able to have them have the correct pronouns for their character while still being able to function in game a certain way :)

I think letting players change pronouns for their wolves that would adjust flavor text would be fine. It improves comfort of playing for those who don't identify their wolves with biological gender.

However, I don't think seeing pronouns of wolves from other packs would be a good idea. This might become uneasy when interacting with other players, especially regarding studding. Players may set a rule for their stud to accept only certain pronouns. This will limit studding capabilities. Some players might feel forced to change pronouns of their wolves just to have stud request accepted. Some players may feel discriminated and turn unfriendly toward the stud owner. Modbox would be overwhelmed with reports about transphobia and mods would have to instruct everyone that players are allowed to set whatever rules regarding their wolves. I wouldn't like the feature to identify players who may be considered transphobes.

This also can be limiting for stud owners not only for the reasons above. Players may prefer to look for studs with certain pronouns so once your stud has pronoun set, you may get less requests than you get when this feature is not implemented. This change can be very limiting for players who interact with other players, no matter how tolerant you are regarding pronouns.

This problem seems like a stretch to me. I can already discriminate what wolves can breed to my stud, e.g. only my friends' wolves, only Warm-based wolves and so on.

Additionally, I already have a she/her stud and have not noticed any decrease in requests, in fact she gathers more attention than her predacessor with the same traits (also NBW Mojave).

If someone decides to not stud to her because of her pronouns, it's their choice. Making pronouns invisible for other players renders the feature useless, since even if I want to be respectful to someone's wolf, I can't really do it unless they put pronouns in bold text absolutely everywhere.
