pronoun changes?

Posted 2021-12-14 21:21:39
@KittenWolf, you make a good point, and I don't think it's transphobic at all. Having it next to sex may confuse members who aren't familiar with transgender people and/or have trouble distinguishing which gender is correct in a given scenario. If pronouns are next to sex, you might end up with people going, "okay, it says "female" here, but then these pronouns say he/him...What should I say then...?" I've had to explain what trans women vs trans men means to plenty of cis people who get wrapped up in the idea of what someone "used to be"/was assigned at birth, so they can't figure out what words to use, lol.
Then again, I'm not sure where else you could put the pronouns aside from maybe another footnote section specifically for pronouns in addition to the already present footnote that is on wolf's pages...?

Adding to what yupup said, there is a possible solution maybe?

Perhaps it is togglable, and by default turned off, so newbies don't see it right away and get mixed up or anything

Since this suggestion is more aimed at the SITE using the wolf's pronouns, I don't think it'd be a huge downfall if users had to toggle it to see the pronouns show up manually

I agree with cr0wfeathers in that regard! The biggest push has been for the site and it's flavor text. Though a toggleable visual aid for all wolves to have their pronouns by their name or in a footnote would be super nice!

I would like it at the tail end of the name tbh or at least somewhere nearby if it's going to be on the visible profile -unless wolves could get a designated part in the bio for it -i like how the pronouns would change the text because that's the biggest thing that should be streamlined if there's already variations on site... yes, it will require coding changes -but as long as the code doesn't confuse the terms it should be fine.

placement on the wolf's page if it is viewable to everyone... i still like the idea of it being close to the name...

'cause I'm KittenWolf and go by she/her... where else would my pronouns need to go unless they were in the bio?... unless there was an additional footnote for pronouns that you could toggle (because not everyone would want pronouns but I think it would be a welcome change 'cause then you can clarify before it's even a question)

I don't think the coding would be too hard to change tbh! It'd just use something to similar to the coding that fills in the wolf's name into the flavor text! Taking an input and putting it into a blank where applicable.

My lead wolf is trans. But I think it's very unnecessary and will confuse a lot of players. Pronouns in wolvden help me remember sex of my wolves😂
I understand your opinions, but I oppose.

If pronouns directly referenced your wolfs sex, you must get confused about your herbalist. Or when mass feeding/playing, because the game defaults to they/them pronouns in that case
I don't see how it correlates

Um, no I don't, because I remember by now that they is used in herbalism?... I'm just glad that in puppy lessons, or pupsitting, or scouting, pronouns match sex
No need to reassure me, I just stated my opinion

tbf, you'd have the option to not use this feature if it'd cause confusion for you.
