What are your favorite plants?

Right now I'm caring for a pothos, an african violet, and a spider plant baby I took off it's mama (then gave to my mama lol). The pothos has been with me for years and really takes nothing more than an occasional water. Once I got the spider plant to root he immediately started thriving and I've already transferred him out of his old spaghetti sauce jar and into a proper pot. The african violet is a bit finnicky, but does great with morning light and plenty of water :) |

I have a yellow thumb, I seem to do really well with plants that like tropics and terrible at plants that are temperamental with watering. My favorite plants that I have owned or own are; Monsteras (delicosa is my favorite but I own multiple species), carnivorous plants (pitcher plants, Venus fly trap, etc.) and stag horn ferns! All of my favorites get watered biweekly and it is my favorite because I know they won’t die from lack of attention or if I just look at it wrong. |

If you have a sunny window, succulents are pretty hardy. Only water once every one or two weeks, use well-draining soil and a pot with holes. There are some that do well in low-light, you'll just have to google stuff. I've had lucky bamboo and pothos that are easy. The bamboo I got was just in stones and water and was doing great until my cat knocked it over and then it died. :') Edit: I forgot tradescantia! There are some beautiful pink varieties and I haven't killed mine yet so they're probably a safe bet! |

i was gifted an air plant at the beginning of the year and they seem pretty tolerant, just dunk them in a bowl of water from the fish tank for 30 mins-1 hour every week, dry them thoroughly, put them in an east-facing window and they do well. my actual Favorite plants are all for the outdoor garden though, u cant go wrong with native wildflowers |

I'm not the best at growing plants. Tried a few things but they've never really stuck. Then again, I did keep it confined in my room and in a pot because I had nowhere to plant it. I find that I'm somehow able to grow mint and marigolds, however, which is weird. This may also be why they are my two favourite plants, though I have a fondness for succulents too. I have a jade and something that looks like a kalanchoe tomentosa and they seem to be doing ok. |

I always try to grow basil! It's my favorite herb. But it's probably a 2/10 for a black thumb. Needs consistent watering and good sunlight to thrive. My mom has a green thumb so when my basil plants are on the verge of death they usually end up in her hands to revive. |

Oh!! Super big plant nerd here!! I keep lots of varieties, from succulents to vines and herbs, and most of them do pretty well!! My recommendation for new plant owners/"black thumbs" is definitely a Snakeplant!! They tolerate commercial potting soil, irregular watering, and low light, with the added benefit of not being a vine that grows out of control- a lot of people just want a houseplant as an accessory, not something that takes over a room!! If you do want a vine that will grow quickly and lusciously trail everywhere, I definitely recommend a Pothos. Also a strong grower in house lighting and poor soil. Back to Snakeplants. Now in the genus Dracaena, you can often still find them sold under their old name Sansevieria. And there's a lot of different varieties! From tall ones to short ones to curled ones to striped ones, if you look at a local greenhouse (or walmart... stores that sell any kind of plant often have snakeplants) or online, you can buy just the type that suits your personality. See some varieties here! I really cannot recommend Snakeplants (and Pothos) enough. They're my absolute darlings as far as not needing special accommodations. |

I started keeping plants in May so I'm relatively new to the game, but my favorites are probably my rubber fig and my Philodendron Birkin. They've both been very tolerant of me while I've figured out how things work, and the Birkin is always sprouting new leaves. They're like most plants I've kept: lots of indirect light and water whenever the soil has dried, and they're happy. I really like coffee plants too, but mine hasn't been very happy lately. I'm hoping he'll survive the winter and perk up a bit in a few months, but we'll see. Our kitchen might be too dark this time of year. |
