How old is a wolf when it retires/dies?

So I know the game has only started and this may not be available yet to anyone, since we are all fairly new. But how long do we have with our leaders before they die? Is their a certain age they hit when we can retire them naturally, or do they just pass on and we choose the next wolf in line to take over?

From the Grouse House guide on Wolvden basics, it says that "Wolves will start dying after they've reached the age of 7 years old. After this age, there is a random chance that the wolf will die until they reach 8 years old, at which point they are guaranteed to die".

For retiring, "You can retire a wolf at any time, but it will cost Gold Cones unless they wolf is old enough to bypass the cost. Retiring a wolf is the same as them dying -- they will be sent to the Dynasty where they can then be stored".
