What Is The Point of Scouting?

@ZeSethis- Having a decently large team of scouts would be beneficial for my idea too. When you're just starting out, losing a wolf is devastating. You're potentially losing 25% of your members. That's 25% of your pack's total knowledge/expertise. When you have a load of members working together they would likely delegate tasks within their roles, and share info more, so a singular loss isn't so hard hitting. That's realistic to me. LD, on the other hand, has wildly unrealistic methods for replacing your king, and I'm pretty glad that isn't a thing here. Once you're done with a difficult RNG based breeding project, you essentially have to stick with that king or lose it forever (exceptional luck or expensive items aside).

I do like the difficulty, the slow starting progress, and the realism of WD so far, but it's like Doods said. Your scout(s) definitely wouldn't get amnesia because his leader/parent died. Progress needs to be tied to scouts to make sense.

As an addition, I would like it if your level 10 scout could search a biome 100%, but a new leader wouldn't be able to explore in that biome until doing a few tasks. Sort of like you scout to find out the requirements for that biome, and if your lead wolf meets them. Could be as simple as collecting a certain number of items/cones in your home biome, or could be more difficult, such as defeating a certain number of high level enemies. The reasoning behind each one could be rooted in realism too. I.e. your wolf has to chase the enemies from the path to that biome, or might die eating unknown plants without basic gathering knowledge. Again, that way it's teamwork

EDIT- having 2 scouts so you lose progress based on level still works out better than sudden amnesia

That saddens me that if you change your leader you lose your scouting process. It is already so time-consuming to unlock a new area! Why should it reset? I think the longer you play, the more rewards you should get/ the easier it should be to win battles and earn money.... Hmmm

That's a good point, Cryptated. I guess if you want to replace your lead wolf early, because it is prettier or has better stats or whatever, there are pros and cons. <3
