Anybody Have Any Reasons Why They Go to Certain Auction Threads? / Economic Insight and Help

Posted 2021-01-03 08:24:19

I think it's good to get notified when people bid, so you know if you get outbid, but it's only nice if there is only a handful of wolves on the auction block. If the user is selling 50 wolves chances are the person you're getting notifications for isn't even bidding on your wolf. Anyway maybe the sheer malice of how auctions currently function radiating off this post is enough to help convince the staff we need help.

This was such an interested read. Thank you everyone who has contributed/commented in this thread so far!

Clutter/Organization:

As a never-peruser of TC or Auction Threads, I hate them LOL. My prejudice is that they are cluttered most of the time and my brain doesn't like to take in that much information. TC is a giant mess right now in terms of pricing, organization, sheer saturation etc. I'm leaning more towards threads now.

Emojis:

For the most part, I hate emojis in titles; they're very hard to tastefully execute. I can't stand ones that have 4 or more different ones in the title. For my own sales thread, I have 2 emojis, and both are repeated one other time [emoji][emoji](TITLE)[emoji][emoji](OTHER INFO). I've added them because I do know they provide a nice break in different threads, and I find that they usually... illustrate the vibe/aesthetics of the wolves within.

Given Information:

I definitely like standard info like Base Tier Stage | Stats | Gender | Marks, Specials | Price. I don't much care for any of the other info that could go into it. My brain picks these ones out automatically, because these are the most important for me. I also like to see if there's an indication of NIB. If a post doesn't specify, I automatically x out.

Too Much:

On the topic of photos, I personally love having a comparison between current opacity/stage to 100% opacity/adult. It gives me all the information i need in 2 photos. I prefer a post to have fewer photos tho. So if someone is selling 20 wolves at a time, I'm less likely to even look at the post.

Foot Traffic:

I generally ignore threads that have a lot of commenters. IDK if this is my social anxiety or the fact that I don't wanna compete with other folks over pixels, LOL. But If I see that the post is super active, it makes me wary--I don't want to lose out on something I really want. If it's active, I look at why: is it the OP posting updates? Is it 100 different people all interested in the same wolf? Is it just a couple people interested in different wolves? ETC.

Incorporated Suggestions:

With all that being said, I do have my own combined flat sales and auction thread. I actually had most of the info others found they appreciated in this thread (except fertility and personality groupings, which I edited to include those details as well).

I think one thing I've noticed is I used to have the wolf's page linked, and hardly ever got a wolf sold. But once I unlinked to the page, and instead, linked to the TC post, wolves started flying off the shelves for me! Nobody has posted any comments on my thread, and instead, i see that folks like using TC a lot more (even for auction). At this point, the thread is only up for my clerical organization, rather than for other folks. But I find cross-posting as much as possible, is super beneficial for buyers.

^_^ I'm glad you think it's an interesting read! I'm honestly surprised at all the responses, thank you! and thanks everybody else!

I feel like this thread is just all of us fighting wolvden for finding 'clutter' in every aspect of wolf sales. TC is easier in theory, but you do have to click every single wolf to see what you want within a search and threads are pretty pictures, they both have their perks and problems.

Tasteful use of emojis is always nice and I feel like the rarer the emoji the better for that purpose, there are a LOT of fire emojis and stars on the auction thread and at this point I feel like anything that's not those is a nice breaker.

I also avoid big threads, I don't want to have to fight over a wolf, but on the other hand its not like you can delete comments on your thread so you can never clear out an auction unless you post a new thread. Wolvden is pretty new, but I feel like unless they make an ability to delete comments / or something else like an archive for old comments? IDK we are going to have super long threads.

Yeah TC is good! I just want to shake people and make them use it lmao. I'm glad you're making sales and this thread has been helpful for you too!
