Heartlands' Story - Tracker & Lore

Day 57 (Feb 20th, 2021) Spring 4, Y3

I knew I'd end up jinxing myself....snake gave me a hunt quest xD

Not that I'd have any struggles. I've only been getting critter and small trails for the longest time now. I know why Frostfangs doesn't give me the option for medium or large trails; Yellowfang was swapped out for Lilypool and she hasn't reached her predecessor's level yet. But why isn't Sunseekers giving me anything? They were always my most successful team, but now they're no better or worse than the other teams. Everyone gives me 93%+ critter success, and ~51% small success.

I'm going to run out of 10-use and above food soon! I only ever eat 10+ use food and sell the rest. My pack is going to be forced to eat pig guts and dead walrus babies for a long time now >.> I refuse to cut down on my income.

I briefly swapped out Austin for Swiftbriar at some point during winter, but I put him back as Stalker the next day. Is that why Sunseekers suck butt now? Or did the update just affect me that much?

So I was doing some addition, calculating what lvl my wolves would have to be to reach 550, and holy shit it'll take a long ass time. I'm talking about lvl 17-19 kind of stuff. That'll take wayyy too long. So I'm thinking maybe I'll make the rules a little more slack. Still try to aim for 550, but if it's too far away of a dream, I can settle for less.

Something strange is going on...Swiftbriar, who has less wisdom & smart stats than Austin by ~80 total, just gave me the option to hunt a medium trail. e-e

Dude, 8 of my females are in heat right now. I've never seen so many cycles in my pack on point like that lol.

I've decided I'm going to give brief descriptions of the personalities of those who joined the pack within the time I stopped making lore entries, so you guys can get to know them better. Heck, I might even add some more entries to those you already know.

Smokewood: A confident, sassy, and somewhat flirtacious she-wolf. She knows she is particularly beautiful amongst the crowd, and though she doesn't boast the fact, she does use it to her advantage in some minor situations. Not manipulative, but why not use it to her advantage every now and then? The ones attracted to her are happy to help.

Lilypool: Lilypool is still a child at heart, and always seems to have a lot of energy. She does not back down from challenges, and is not easily angered by most situations. Lilypool is empathetic and unbiased about most situations, and is often the go-to for some people within Heartlands who want to vent or explain their woes. Lilypool is especially fond of the younger members of the pack, and often treats them as if they were her younger siblings.

Eaglestrike: Confident, brave, and a go-getter, not afraid to take charge in a situation if need be. The death of his mother early on in his life has hardened him to harsh realities of life. Aside from that, Eaglestrike likes company and is friendly towards pack members, but a bit aggressive towards strangers and apprehensive of those who haven't earned his trust. 

Hailstorm: A little less talkative than most, often careful with what he says, and is empathetic enough to take into consideration other people's needs when deciding something. He is a capable warrior, but still enjoys playing and slacking off from time to time with his friends.

Marigoldshine: Friendly and fun to be around. Marigoldshine has lots of energy and has a healthy dose of competitive nature about her. She is cofident in her skills, but humble and not afraid to admit where her skills are weakest at. A lesser known side of her is her hopeless romantic attitude; when she has eyes on someone, she's not so willing to let them go.

Raindrop: Quiet, reserved, but not unfriendly. Though emotion rarely shows upon her face, she is always around and willing to lend a paw without qualms if need me. Her apathetic nature also means she lacks the desire to complain or be rebellious, and the wolves respect that about her.

Oh yeah, and Rainpaw's been made an apprentice a warrior. Hehe, I almost forgot about that. Her name is Raindrop now.

Today is the second to last day Snowtuft will ever be in heat. My old gorl. It won't be cannon, but she will have one more batch of kiddies.

Raindrop has reached level 5, while Stormpelt has reached level 9. Y'all remember Stormpelt? Me neither. Jk jk.

Swiftbriar gave me a medium trail again! Austin, what are you doing?!

Today is NOT the second to last day Snowtuft will be in heat. My brain did not compute right. Either way, I wanted her to have kids. Also, Robinwish has been nested for the night! If one of her pups are deemed worthy of staying, she'll likely become a Sunseeker chaser, to allow someone else (maybe Marigoldshine?) the chance to be Scout.

I know today's entry is already super long, but I found an easier way to farm owl talons! Originally I would go to the nest of the cat-like creature in Rainforest (the kits scramble away but leave behind a talon), but I found a duck in Swamp that--upon chasing it--gives me owl talons as well! And it happens much more likely as well! At this rate, I'll reach my ~26 ~260 stacks of owl talons goal before I can even consume half the uses. I'd feel really bad wasting nearly 400 1,300 uses of talons. What can I do? I need to find someone I can trust to give the uses to and return the 1-uses back...

Sleekshade has reached level 11, Lilypool to level 6, and Eaglestrike to level 7!

Day 58 (Feb 21st, 2021) Spring 5, Y3

Forgot to post yesterday's lore entry...heh. It's up now.

And Robinwish has given birth! All males, all with brown bases, just like Robinwish's. They have literally none of the same markings as their stud father lol. Austin's gonna be disappointed that none of them take after him. I decided to name them just 'cuz, but none of them will be staying. In lore, only 3 of 4 will have actually been born. Maybe one will die before it's weaned...the other two will join Dustpaw's lil side pack. I'll probably take Robinwish off being a Scout. ~315 stats is good enough for me, and since she'll be breeding to the same stud, they'll have higher stat pups next litter. Pray I'll get a henna/liver/brass/red pup to keep. The current pups are beautiful, but I need diversity!

I suppose I could put them up for sale? At least the one that looks exactly like Robinwish, save for having olive eyes. I feel like, despite its simplicity, it's still beautiful.

Oh yeah, the pups' names are Silverpup, Tallpup, and Barkpup.

We now have only a single 1-use swine carcass to our name...and not everyone has been fed for the day. Let's hope they can find more swine carcasses today. And btw, for anyone reading who might think my pack is starving: they're not. This is intentional. I only eat 10-use and above food, which I've run out of, but I have plenty of other food they can monch on instead. I'm choosing to let them starve as a means of suspense...But I'm not cruel lol, if they can't find anything worth eating then I'll let them eat <10 use food.

Marigoldshine & Sootvine are replacing Robinwish & Sleekshade as Scouts. The latter two will become hunters.

Barnaby has reached level 17, Hazelglow to 10, and Marigoldshine to 6!

We're getting the occasional medium trail option from both the Windrunners (led by Swiftbriar) and Sunseekers (led by Austin). We even caught a blacktail today! Unfortunately, it seems like Owlfrost, Redtail, and Stormpelt are going hungry tonight.

Oh, nevermind. Frostfangs found a swine! Yay!

Alsooo, today's entry has been written! I'll be going a bit slow with this, since I don't want things to happen over too long of a period, meaning that today's entry will be chopped up into 2 parts. The second part will be a part 2, happening within the same 15-day span as the first part (since, you know, 15 days in game is 1 day out of game).

Day 59 (Feb 22nd 2021), Spring 6, Y3

Hailstorm has reached level 9! Just as Austin was giving me mediums, he's replaced by Berrypaw, now Berrycloud. But Berrycloud, Lilypool, and Swiftbriar will be my Stalkers for their entire lives, so remember them well!

I have bought two NBWs--their names are Firepaw and Dawnpaw. They will be introduced into the lore after the whole drama is over. I want to use them to make a wolf with auburn points & shaded, so let's hope they help me get there! I am 99% sure I won’t be getting anymore wolves from TC now. However, I am still on the lookout for good chased t2s, and ofc even a t3... I'm picky about the chased t2s I have so it'll be slow going.

Now that Berrycloud's an adult, I can start scrying like mad for a potential mate.

Berrycloud's potential children with Lilypool and Raindrop look soo mundane. Man, it's hard to find a pair of wolves who will give me a unique pup from their parents, rather than a half-assed attempt at trying to be like one of their parents. Ah well. Let's hope Sunpaw is compatible with one of them.

Day 60 (Feb 23rd 2021), Summer 1, Y3

Gotta slay 3 bears...sigh...they inflict bleed so often. I've sorely lost two fights already.

I'm so tempted to jump straight to the Rainforest or something for that sweet exp, also to make the game harder on myself. Giving myself the challenge to only eat 10+ use game was fun when I finally ran out of it...I kind of want to do that more. No safety nets.

I mean, other than those walrus pup carcasses, which I've recently been avoiding.

1 of 3 bears defeated. Went in with 46hp, came out with 6hp. Man, this is rough.

Got someone trading me 1 use talons for my 5 uses :D Currently at 108. Waiting for an affordable owl talon recipe on TC that won't take my entire wallet and then some requires a special type of patience -^-

So I didn't mention, but earlier today half of my wolves reached 40% hunger. That's the lowest I've ever gotten! I ended up giving them peccaries and muskrats sans Redtail & Stormpelt, because I hope to find a medium trail today. If not, everyone’s going hungry again tomorrow. I think. Idk, I'd love to just eat anything I catch in Hunting but, selling food is like 60% of my SC income ;-; And I literally do nothing else lmao. I'm pretty absent on the pup selling and stud making markets... Or even selling food to the players. The latter I'm just too lazy to update every day.

Okay so I think I'll just try to eat only walrus pups/seals until my Stalkers can more consistently give bigger prey, then I can go back to only eating larger prey. When I do finally move to a harder biome, I'm thinking mmm...Give myself a challenge, ONLY eat walrus pups and seals, and literally sell everything else. Any large/medium prey will be put on the market. Ooo. That sounds fun. And scary. I get on a lot but that doesn't mean I'll get walrus pups consistently enough to feed my pack everyday.

Also, sorry I haven't written yesterday's entry yet. I do have it finished, I'm just not satisfied with it all. I want to re-write the whole thing, but the idea I have will seem sudden and out of nowhere compared to Part I, so I'm trying to figure out how to make it go seamlessly into my new ideas.

OKAY OKAY. I've come to an idea. I will wait until autumn or winter to write my plan. That way I'll have wayyy more options for conflict, and I can do it better. So I'll delete the entry I wrote a few days ago, and when the time comes for me to continue it, I'll do some minor edits with names (since y'know, Berrypaw and Sunpaw won't be apprentices anymore, Robinwish's kids will be older...) and publish it back up.

Used a lucky foot for the first time ever--I forgot they existed--to win against a kermode bear. We were 30hp to 46hp and he had literally just inflicted bleed. That lucky foot definitely helped. I need to use them more.

Day 61 (Feb 24th 2021), Summer 2, Y3

Managed to win a fight against a black bear; first thing I did on Wolvden today. Now the snake wants me to give him all my food -^-

Made a temporary 4th team, Austin's Team, consisting of most of my good retired hunters: Austin, Owlfrost, Whitestorm, Velvetwing, and Stormpelt, in that order. I was going to spam them today since I miss using their high stats, but if I do that then it'll take even longer for the other teams to get proficient. And by other teams, I really only mean Lilypool and Berrycloud. At least Swiftbriar gives the chance for medium prey. Berrycloud doesn't even give me small yet, and Lilypool hasn't once given me medium yet. I can't wait until we can train adolescents. This sucks.

I forgot to mention who Firepaw, Dawnpaw, and Tawnypaw's mentors are yesterday. Stormpelt is getting her first apprentice, which is Tawnypaw. Swiftbriar, also his first, is getting Dawnpaw. And, since it's only fair, Pricklestep will be getting Firepaw as her mentee to coincide with her brother getting his own. I have so many google docs dedicated to Wolvden, so I really do keep track of all the little things.

Oh yah, and Snowtuft's pups were born. A red male and white female, both without markings. Such high stats; wish I could produce more pups like that. 

My hunting teams suck right now, and so does summer >:( Man, I'll never be able to get medium trails again.

Okay, I lied. I just check. Berrycloud actually does give me small trails, they're just very inconsistent.

Lilypool has given me her first medium trail. It's marked at 17%. Time to fail it like all the rest v-v

I failed it.

Yesterday, I found 1 walrus pup and 1 seal pup. Today I've found NOTHING. My wolves are gonna starve at this rate lmao. But I won't let them...at least, I'll wait until they reach 20% to feed them :') I'm sorry guys. It must be done!

Day 62 (Feb 25th 2021), Summer 3, Y3

Silverpup, Tallpup, and Barkpup have been weaned. It has been decided that Silverpup will join StormClan, which is now the official name of the pack that is lead by Dustpaw and Beetlepaw. Speaking of those two, they've also decided that it is tradition for those who join their pack to have their suffix always kept to -paw, even as an adult. Dustpaw came up with the idea "StormClan" because she wanted her warrior name to be Duststorm when she grew up, but decided it would be better if the pack name was so. When Silverpup turns 6 months old, his name will forever be Silverpaw to go along woth the tradition.

As a reminder, those in StormClan are almost always the children of the main pack. Currently there is Dustpaw, Beetlepaw, Featherpaw, Breezepaw, Darkpaw, [doc refuses to load so I can't name Darkpaw"s brother lol], and Silverpup.

Tempted to sell all my food just to scare myself. What is wrong with me...Omg. So close to just jumping straight to Rainforest and giving up on medium prey >.>

[Day 61 (Feb 24th 2021), Summer 2, Y3]

Meeting Firepaw and Dawnpaw

A month ago, two rogue wolves arrived on Heartlands’ doorstep.

“We heard your pack was friendly and open to accepting strangers. We wanted to see if we would be invited in,” It was the male who spoke, his pelt reflecting the rays of the late spring sun. Beside him was a smaller female, her pelt a golden orange like his, but with less flair. Instead, it was her eyes that blazed like fire. The wolves who greeted them at the border wondered if they were siblings.

“Of course we’re open to strangers, but we don’t let just anyone join,” Sleekshade said, his tone friendly but wary. Beside him was Sootvine and Hazelglow; the wolves were making their usual rounds of the border when they found the two.

“Understandable. My name is Asclepius, and my mate here is Venus. We’ve come from a pack long since abandoned, and have been going from rogue to pack member to rogue time and time again. None of them fit the ideals we had, or honored the values and beliefs we shared. We found one who did, but they had no space for members, and it was them who put out a good word for you.”

Upon asking them who it was that had said it, they procured the name of a pack Heartlands traded with often. It was good to know their trading allies spoke such things about them.

Asclepius and Venus were brought back to camp where they began to meet Barnaby and the rest of the Council. Halfway through the meeting, Marigoldshine interrupted it to greet the two wolves, who she claimed to know when she was once a rogue herself.

“They’re like a power couple. So gooey and soft together, and when anyone challenges them they always fight together. They’ve got big hearts, too. Despite being head over paws for each other,” she teased, “they’re really loyal to their friends as well. I remember one time when we were in the desert…” and Marigoldshine went on about how they had saved her from a cougar after she took too long coming back from a hunt she was doing. The cougar was starving and desperate, and tried to take the small meal Marigoldshine was bringing back for the three.

After much evaluating, the wolves were allowed to stay with Heartlands. They agreed to change their names--Firepaw for Asclepius, and Dawnpaw for Venus--but still called each other by their original names when no one else was around, which was completely fine.

Later Edit: I had forgotten to add the part that briefly showed the two going off to send thanks to their Goddess, the name of whom is unknown. Firepaw and Dawnpaw are very religious wolves and part of what they meant by 'not finding packs who honored or valued the beliefs we shared' was that they were either atheists who openly disagreed with the idea of Gods, or religious but with clashing beliefs.

Their religion will probably be broadened and explained more in later entries. They found Heartlands to be a match because Heartlands is mainly agnostic, and because the wolves are so friendly and respectful of their beliefs.

Day 66 (Mar 1st, 2021) Autumn 1, Y3

I kind of have a lot to say and yet nothing at all. You get that?

I've figured out a strat (not really a strat but eh): only explore & use up all my energy in the day until I reach my Essence cap, then wait til the next night and use it all up.

I am not dead .w. I am still very active. Just haven't had the desire to write anything for a while--school is really trying to drain my essence! So many essays... 1,400 words...800 words...1,200 words...upcoming 2,000...college is mean ;-;
