Show Instances of Inbreeding

I support it! I also think inbreeding should have a effect on wolves! Like random deaths as puppies, random mutations or new mutations like blindness, or curved paws (paw curves so they walk on the top, this happens to some puppies irl) , something small not huge and a small chance of it happening would be cool!

Support! Every stud and and pack member is somehow related to the same 5 wolves, and recently bred to a stud that was clearly inbred. There are other studs, you know.

I support this, it would be helpful to save time for people who wants to play in a certain way.

Support. I want to avoid inbreeding as much as possible and this would be a helpful feature

I'm neutral on this, leaning no support.

If implemented, I think it would make sense to only have the feature relating to the wolves directly on the family page of the wolf in question, or, like some other plays have mentioned, maybe 5 generations back. Though I do like the idea of an inbreeding coefficient over a solid number, I worry it would be confusing for new players.

Like daffy mentioned on the first page, this feature feels like it could pressure people into a no inbreeding playstyle, and I don't like the idea of players being forced into a certain playstyle they don't want to adopt. I've seen frustration in the main chat from players who think their playstyle isn't incorporated into the game and how the game only supports a certain playstyle already, and this would cause that issue for even more people.

I absolutely do not think inbreeding should cause mutations just from inbreeding itself. I believe that unfairly punishes players for playing a certain way. I've seen the justification that such mutations would be some sort of deterrent for inbreeding, targeting leaderboard wolves, and I can understand the frustration that inbreeding allows for stats to be raised super quick into seemingly unreachable numbers for everyone else. However, this would also punish more casual players, or players who maybe forgot to check lineages before breeding.

Final point: on the "Game Development Guidelines" post, it says features from Lioden that are missing from Wolvden were deliberately not added or are planned for future release. I just thought I would add my two cents anyways.

I'm also kinda neutral on this

While it would be nice I feel like lots of people will purely hyper-focus on clean-breeding and nothing else clean-breeding is meant to be a playstyle/challenge but as is on Wolvden everyone is basically forced to do it just to make what little income they can so many players are already forced to do a clean-breeding style just to get by which to me highkey sucks as people should be able to play how they want without worry

Don't get me wrong I completely understand clean-breeders wanting  "Instances of inbreeding" so then they don't have to check 452 times to see if a wolf is inbred or not either way for now I'm in the middle of things

Support. At the end of the day, having an easy-to-see indication of inbreeding... Doesn't really effect you if you just don't care about whether or not your wolves are inbred? It doesn't put 'pressure' on you to avoid it at all. You either care or you don't- it being easier to see doesn't. Change that lmao.

Meanwhile I find the idea of inbreeding my own wolves squicky as hell (since they're pretty much anthropomorphised in my head n' the way I work with them) and don't want it anywhere near my pack ;u; This would be a big help to me and put less of a strain when I'm looking for new wolves to add to my pack.

EDIT: I disagree entirely with the idea of random deaths/higher mutation chance for inbred wolves, though. That really is just punishing people for playing the game how they want to.

Neutral, leaning on no support.

I'd rather have a scry option to check if two wolves in recent histories share relatives. That way wolves can stay untouched and anyone that really wants to avoid inbreeding can have something specifically for them that won't have a potential subconscious effect on every wolf on the site as a whole.

If it just marks it on the wolf itself then I'm leaning towards no support. If it were implemented it should only affect the 4 generations on an individual wolf's family page (so it'd only check the 30 wolves from parents to grandparents on that one wolf). It just has too much room to put subconscious values on every wolf on the site which I feel is unfair to those that do play more casually and don't pay as much attention - marking wolves could put an unfair pressure on them to start paying attention, and other factors I'm not going to list that I simply don't agree with.

Absolutely no support for any kind of indicator on the wolf’s page. I’d be okay with highlighting duplicate entries on the family tree page and/or a scrying stone feature that checks five generations back, but not further than that. (Again, ten generations is over two thousand wolves. That’s a big strain to put on the server. Not to mention the ripple effect on the market and how it will pressure non-“clean” breeders to play a certain way.)

Support, as I don't want to buy inbred wolves. Simple as that. Obviously this worked on a site with similar coding- I see no reason why it would suddenly strain the server on Wolvden.
