No worries, this is not a rude question at all!

I do permit alterations, but only externally; I am not comfortable with others editing/reuploading my code directly. However, you can write/upload another small CSS stylesheet with your desired tweaks and link that one just below the link for my layout.

Feel free to PM for help with this if you need; I'd be happy to help with any tweaks.

Thank you for the kind words! I'm planning on opening paid custom CSS eventually but considering I have almost no experience with commissions and etiquette I don't think I'll get so comfortable anytime soon :,) but I'm aspiring!

Absolutely! I prefer if you didn't edit the code directly for that though - you can write a separate stylesheet with just the background change code and link that below the layout's link.
