Stat growth rates from levelling up - collecting data? calculator + sheet

For some examples of how this works:
By level 20 gained:
You can see that their 2 highest birth stats were the "favored" stats and grew by the ~120, while the 3 "unfavored" stats grew by ~60. I have dev confirmation that role has nothing to do with stat gain, it is strictly based on whichever their 2 highest stats are. The reason that roles can sometimes affect this is because roles give +1 and +2 gains daily in certain stats. If these small increases raise a stat enough that it's the second highest or highest stat, the leveling algorithm with change to "favor" that stat. (Edit: here's another example, I don't have another level 20 wolf to share, but this still demonstrate how the leveling works) Born with:
By level 17 gained:
From this you can see that leveling consistently favors the 2 highest stats at the time of leveling. The 2 favored stats level at a nearly equal rate, and the 3 unfavored stats level at a nearly equal rate. |

For an example of how role does NOT affect stat growth from level gain... I have a no good dirty rotten Chaser who has betrayed me. Pup born with:
By level 14 gained:
You can see that despite Speed being very nearly the second highest stat, since +1s from chasing didn't making it the second highest stat in time for leveling, Smarts has become the second preferred stat with Agility, instead of Speed. Despite Speed/Agility being the Chaser stats. The father's highest stats were Agility and Smarts. The mother's highest stats were Speed and Agility. The simple fact that Smarts started slightly higher and got lucky with the levels means that no amount of on-the-job training will counteract the leveling algorithms. |

Are the favored stats determined at birth, or determined at the first level up?Β Like looking at this wolf, her highest stats are 60 strength, 69 wisdom, and 61 smarts. If I trained her as a finisher, so that her strength was 61 or 62 at her first level up, would her favored stats be strength/wisdom instead of wisdom/smarts?Β Same question: 44 strength, 46 agility, 45 smartsΒ wolvden.com If there's not a clear answer, I can raise these two and report back? |

The two favored stats are determined on a per-level basis. It just takes whatever the 2 highest stats are at time of leveling to on-average make them the highest leveled stats. |

That does make sense, thanks! I actually don't have plans for either wolf (will probably chase soon) and most of the pups I breed now are so specialized I think it would be impossible to change their highest two!Β Good to know that +2 is the most they will gain in a day. Is there a similar cap on scouting gains? |

Yeah it's +2 for scouting, hunting, and herbalism. There are rare cases where a wolf will get +3 for the day, but that only happens if the wolf gets a +1 and then happens to get a +2. It's so rare that the specific circumstance is met though, so just figure on +2 per day for ease of eyeballing things. Lead wolves are not constrained by this limit, however. |

Okay great to know. So if I had a wolf that I trained as a finisher (and had a high strength stat to start)...it would earn about 120 in strength by getting to level 20, and then if it hunted every day for 3 years, about another 144 in strength? (3 years * 24 rollovers in a year * +2/day)?Β Trying to breed and train up a 500+ hunting team, haha!Β |

More or less! The wolf from my first example was my stud who was a Rainforest scout his whole life and is now a Finisher. He gained 118 Strength from leveling to 20 and 143 Strength from +1s. He averaged +1.5 Strength per day from the little increases. +2 per day is totally reasonable if you stay on top of it though :) |

This is so helpful, thank you!Β Sounds like if I want a 500+ finisher by the age of 4, I need to start with a pup around ~240 in strength. Chasers and stalkers will need to be born much higher.Β Well, lots to work towards!Β |

@π§ Rat Of Unusual Size π wow that... explains a lot of the discrepancies and interesting phenomena in my data, actually! :o which is also super nice to know, because now i know that breeding for stats is actually a lot easier and more straightforward than i initially guessed :'D thank you so much for coming in and clearing that up! |
