Madison was even shocked that Luke could read it, sure there were some words she could make out but that one she had no idea. But for Luke to figure it out was beyond her. She just wished this class would be over with, next for her was art class. That class she really enjoyed, she sighed with relief when the bell rang,”what’s your next class Luke? Mine is Art,” smiled Madison as she grabbed her books before waiting for Luke.

(I was thinking that maybe Luke drops a necklace and it could glow or something. Maybe that would be a sign to Luke that Madison is half elf, because it could only work if you have elf blood? What do you think?)

(That sounds good to me!)

One of the guys laughed at Luke, “Psh. Nerd,” he mumbled. Luke looked at him,”what was that?” He asked. “Oh nothing,” the jock answered. The cheerleaders laughed. “Psh. Dumb jock,” he said, mocking him. The jock looked at him,”what’d you say?” He asked him. “Oh nothing,” mocking him once again. He looked away and rolled his eyes. Then looked at Madison, handing her his schedule. “These are all my classes,” he told her. 

“Looks like we have the same classes, Luke I think you dropped something those dumb jocks must’ve knocked a necklace loose,” replied Madison as she picked it up. It started to glow gently but only enough for Luke to notice and not Madison, she was more focused on Luke’s class schedule.

Luke smiled, he was glad that they had some classes together. He looked at the necklace, it was his mother’s. It only glowed when it was in the hands of an elf. He looked at her, puzzled, then back to the necklace. Then he gently took it out of her hand. When he took it, he brushed his fingers against hers, causing his elf ears to appear, for a quick second. His eyes opened, shocked and surprised at what happened. “The necklace. It’s my mother’s,” he said with a faint smile, still unsure of what just happened. 

“At least you have something, I’ve never even met my dad. I guess he died when I was born. Come on if we don’t go now we’ll be late for art class and I don’t want to miss that class,” replied Madison as she led the way to the art class. She sighed happily, at least this was one class that the cheerleaders were not in.

“I’m sorry to hear that,” he told her. Is she half elf...? The thought wondered through his mind. But he shook the thought off. He nodded his head and followed her to their next class. “Well there’s a good sign, no cheerleaders,” he said to her with a laugh. He liked art, he would always draw at home, for his mother. She loved his artwork, his father however always discouraged him. He would say, “son you have better things to do, then to sit and draw pictures, it’s not important,” he would say far meaner things but that was beside the point. 

(I’ve got a brilliant idea!!! What if Madison’s mom was holding onto a ring from her late father and it’s the same one that Luke has?)

“Do you draw too Luke? Drawing is my second hobby but I’m really into photography the most, I’ve had people telling me to enter my pictures into the school contest but I don’t know if I’m good enough or ready to do it quite yet. But I would like to show you some of my pictures sometime if you want to see them that is,” smiled Madison as she found two empty seats in the back. One for her and the other for Luke.

Luke nodded, “drawing and painting is my number one hobby,” he told her with a smile. His smile then faded away, “my father thinks it’s stupid,” he scoffed. “But.. My mother, she loves my artwork,” he said, his smile came back. Yes, Haldir was a mommas boy. He then looked at Madison and smiled. “Of course I would like to see them,” he replied to her. He followed Madison to the seats in the back, sitting in one of them. The teacher told them to draw something that they’re passionate about. He thought for a moment and grabbed some supplies. He then started drawing. He was passionate about his mother, family. He had almost forgotten he wasn’t at home anymore, his mother had elf ears. He didn’t have time to redraw it though. The teacher came over to him, “Amazing job! You’re passionate about fantasy I’m guessing?” She asked him. He took a second to answer, “oh. Yes ma’am,” he told her with a smile. He looked over at Madison’s work in amazement. “Wow!” He said and smiled at her.

“Thanks it’s not much but I really love animals, especially deer. In the woods being so free. I’ve been told I should enter a contest here, it’s next week but I don’t know if I’m even ready for it yet,” sighed Madison as she finished her drawing of a big beautiful Deer. It wasn’t much but Luke really seemed to like it, soon the bell rang signaling the end of the day,”well I’ve got to get home now. My mom will be making dinner for me because she has to work tonight, here’s my number if you want to come over later,” smiled Madison as she wrote her cellphone number down on a piece of paper before handing it to Luke.

Luke smiled at her, his green eyes shimmered. What are you doing Haldir...? You can’t fall for a human girl... It’s against the rules.. He thought in his head. He sighed. He then looked away quickly, then back at his drawing. He would save it for his mother. He looked back at Madison, “thank you,” he told her. “And you should enter that contest,” he told her before she left. He had no clue on where he would be staying tonight. He had friends, but they were so rowdy. It would have to do though. He put Madison’s phone number in his pocket and walked to his friends.
