Befriend-able Pups

If pups were befriendable, they would have to be around 50-100 stats to make them quite balanced to adult NBWs.

I really love unsknown (#21142) 's spin on this idea, that puppies need food (or toys!) to befriend them!

Perhaps like that one encounter in lioden where you find a lone cub that you can play with. But instead you can try lure the pup with amusement, the pup will have a favoured toy category like feathers and bones.

I'm on the fence about this.

A major part of raising and chasing is that it takes many resources. Players have to decide which pups they actually want to invest time, food, and amusement on. For other unwanted pups, why not just enclave them? That still gives other players a chance to find them and take them in.

Sorry but no support. This is what the Enclave is for.

Sorry but no support. The Enclave is already where you can send pups that you don't want to waste resources on (and the bear gives you SC per pup to boot). So I don't see why chasing pups would be more valuable than that, save for clearing their lineage which at that point... why not just raise them to chase?

Similarly to my stance on the similar thread regarding adolescents, I'd much prefer that some things in-game remain a surefire 100% way to completely remove unwanted wolves from the game, and from what I know right now chasing when they're young is the only way (and I personally do not want to lose that at all).

Same here.

Pups could be rare to find and easy to befriend since they are either yappy, clueless bundles of over-excited fur, or scared babies who look for help from any adult they see.

Ados could be less rare, since they have learnt a bit of survival skills (still rarer than adults) but hard to befriend because they are shyer and know that a stranger can be aggressive.

In my opinion, befriendable pups serve a totally different function from the enclave. As you mention, the enclave is great for dropping off pups you don't want to waste resources on (and I use it a lot!) However, befriendable pups would give people a fun and cute surprise in explore, which the enclave doesn't provide.

It's like saying "Why R&C a wolf when you could just give it away for free?" Both are valid ofc, but maybe you want to brighten someone's day by letting them stumble across it in explore and get the excitement of that purple star. And it would be extra fun if it was a pup, because pups are cute.

Yup.
Puppies are my favourite stage and I'd love to find them.
Plus NBW have no training, while if I found a pup I could boost its stats by training and then have the ado learn the ropes.

And, the same as with NBW, it would erase high gen and inbreeding (I don't really care, but many do).

Still no support. As Otterbells said:
