Lunar Event News

Posted 2021-03-01 18:24:25

I have only noticed one real problem with the event so far and, as others have said, it's the battle encounters.

Since the healing in the Dreamlands quite frankly sucks, the constant battling is taking a rather painful toll. Note that it's not 'I rarely get healing encounters.' It's 'even if the healing encounters were ramped up, you can't heal 20-40 health in two or three explore steps.' Meziki is a level 18, going on 19 at this point, and even a level 7 enemy can cut his health bar by half or more. I am using one healing salve per 1-2 fights, sometimes more.

Doesn't sound bad when looking at the small numbers, but... We get 875LE max during the event if we grind out the max each day. My log has recorded that, since the start of the event, I have used 188 uses of salves (94 Healing Salves). Currently standing at 363LT after having used 357LE. I still have 18LE to go for today, which should be, I dunno, 1-3 more battles all depending? Using 30-35 salves per day on average means needing 210-245 Healing Salves for ONE event. That's more than a smidge painful.

I definitely do not want to be grinding out that many salves between the end of this event and the beginning of the next one - especially when we'll eventually be getting the month-long events too, which will likely have battle encounters as well. I've honestly really, really disliked the health system since I made my account and this event is really showing its flaws. I don't think the battle encounters are the problem - I am LOVING the XP and the battles honestly aren't too bad, even with the RNG, but the health bars add an unnecessary... I can't even say difficulty, as it's not. It's just frustration.

Honestly, if the event battle damage just healed itself/didn't persist outside of the battles, most of the problems would be entirely gone. (Event battles only, though, 'cause Healing Salves still need a use. :P) The only issue that would remain is just the general RNG, which I am assuming will be adjusted at a later date since there was mention in a previous news post of tweaking battle things.

Other than that and the retiring thing, though, event is great. I might be a bit biased because I think anything with so much blue is great. Seriously, though - the art is amazing, the worldbuilding possibilities are endless, and a shiny blue base? Yes please. This is also really dumb, but I really like the idea of Meziki wandering around and putting things in his mouth he shouldn't, like the funny-looking rats and the orbs that he knows nothing about, but feels the urge to bite. XD

TL;DR: I like event and battles good, but health bar bad and needs adjustments. :P

Ohhh Volinolona put my feelings on the event rather well. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the art, the lore, the glorious blue base and applicators, I am STOKED for this event. AND I love the frequent battles but man oh man is this an insane amount of salves needed...and since losing or skipping a battle gets you nothing it is super punishing to have to pass on a battle (especially one I know could give me 2!) just because I ran out of salves.

The thoughts in the latter half of this thread have been what I've been thinking about as well.

While I love this event so far, and it has reinvigorated my interest in the site (as well as many others, as at peak times we are back to over 1000 members online, when a few weeks ago at peak it seemed to hover around 600-800), the grind is slowly starting to push my interest away.

Not only is seeing battle encounter after battle encounter depressing, as I know that if I pass on it I have passed on getting LT, but the grind to get LE is harrrsh unless you plan to spend gc on guarana. In my case I have been online since 10 am CST (passively, of course, checking in maybe every 30 mins), it is now about 8:15 pm CST and I still haven't gotten to my LE limit. In fact, I rather doubt I will get to the 100 limit today at this rate (I've got about 30 more to go), given the fact that I prioritize sleep over anything else lol.

I don't know if it is intentionally supposed to be this grindy, but I fear in the future what may happen is that everyone just loses interest in this event, not only because it happens so frequently, but the grind to even get the base you want, or the decor you want is so big, it's kinda like what's the point.

just gonna echo support for what others have already said on this page, both in regards to the battles and to the difficulty in finding lunar essence as well. absolutely loving the event visually and thematically!

Oookay, so looks like my '18 steps will get me 1-3 battles' prediction was way off. 18 steps actually resulted in 8. Yeah, definitely can NOT heal between that without healing salves.

adding to the statements about finding lunar essence; just went through 90% energy of exploration, plus another 20% gained while doing so, and came out the other end with 4 lunar essence gained. :/ im not at my cap.

This event sadly only proved how broken the current battle RNG system is. :(

20lvl lead with lucky feet active vs 7lvl encounter ended with me fleeing in the last moment. I used 80+ salves since yesterday. Healing encounters are great, but they're not sustainable in the long run as they heal too little. I have 50 HP on the bar, healing +2hp or +4HP does nothing for me :( Battling with low level enemies drains HP very quickly but it's one of the main ways to gather LT (at least for me, as most of the encounters are battling ones). So far the grind is more punishing than rewarding.

BUT.
The art itself is gorgeous. The artits did an oustanding job. The whole aesthetic, the way how the whole map changes and the potential lore around this mini event (now I understand why the moon in Wolvden logo gives a blue shine) is just amazing and I love it so much. Writers did a great job too with the vivd descriptions that helps us engage with the world on the whole another level. I love it so much.

I agree, the battling needs to get looked on. I think the encounters shouldn't be that many since it now feels like almost all of them are battles.

Yeah; I love this event but it's really hard to heal without using a tonne of healing salves- I rarely get healing events and they don't heal my HP by much most of the time.
