FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: LAKECLAN/OAKCLAN BORDER// MENTIONS: EVENINGPAW, IVYCRY, ROUGHTHROAT, STEPPINGSTAR, BOULDERPAW

Flowingoak purred happily at Eveningpaw's second catch of the day, a great one towards the end of leafbare, nonetheless. "Great job! I think this should be enough for now - we don't want to empty out the forest with your great hunting skills!"

He lowered his head, flicking an ear softly. "Maybe get a tad bit closer before you show your position next time." He smiled and shook out his thick fur.

When the tom lifted his head once more, he heard a light commotion towards the border. Looking back at Ivycry, he flicked his tailtip in the direction of the noise, hoping Eveningpaw hadn't heard.

"Could you take her back to camp? I'm just going to do a final check." He grinned softly, but quickly turned around and started loping, interested greatly in the noises.

When he caught sight of the culprits, he peeked out from behind a large oak tree, his blue eyes widening slightly at the sight of Steppingstar walking away from an apprentice whose name he believed was rock-related, and Roughthroat, a warrior he'd seen a little bit (since he isn't aware that he is now deputy).

Seeing that the situation was calming down, he wondered what had lit the fire for it in the first place. This isn't regarding Oakclan. Leafstar doesn't need to know. He thought, nodding to himself softly. If they were across the border, that'd be another issue, but... I don't want to bother him with nonsense much more.

Blue eyes darting from the warrior to the apprentice, Flowingoak left them alone, starting on a route towards the camp.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Ivycry, Flowingoak

Eveningpaw grinned at Flowingoak's praise, then nodded at his advice. "I'll do that next time!" She said, digging up the rabbit and grasping it in her mouth. She heard a faint noise towards the border, but didn't go. She glanced at Ivycry, then watched Flowingoak lope towards the border, most likely to figure out the source of the noise. She tracked her vole back to the river and dug it up, mouth now full. "Let's go. I have everything," She said through the prey, trotting back to camp. She didn't want to disobey Flowingoak though her curiosity was burning more than ever. She entered the camp and dropped some prey at the elders' den. "Here's your food!" She said lightly, smiling as she walked away. The fresh-kill pile was much smaller than she had seen at sun-up, but she selected a good-sized squirrel and walked over to the warriors' dens to eat. She settled herself on a patch of soft grass before biting into the squirrel, chewing vigorously.

Leafstar || OakClan || Leader || Location: Camp outskirts || Mentions: Patrol

He had returned to his thoughts after the patrol had left once more, eyes closed as he sought out inner peace. With war raging around him like a fire, he needed to remain calm and level-headed, do his best to go unnoticed until the disaster between PeakClan and LakeClan was done and over with. The dark bicolor tom found himself to be most comfortable outside of camp, where untrodden ground was beneath his paws and the scent of prey and leaf litter was overwhelming. As much as he wished to patrol on his own, he needed to wait until his deputy returned. It would be foolish of Leafstar to leave camp unattended by a high rank.

So instead the leader closed his eyes to find his serenity, drowning out the distant chatter of elders and focusing on the distant birdsong. Few birds were left during leafbare, but he came to appreciate what animals had chosen not to migrate- mostly chickadees, curious little creatures. They entertained him, those petty and rather vocal birds. But he came to appreciate their song as well, even if it wasn't his favorite of songbird chorus.

The high-pitched voice of one of their apprentices communicated to Leafstar that the patrol had returned. He opened his eyes to reveal a cool pair of green visionaries, glancing around camp for the familiar coat of his deputy. But Flowingoak was yet to return. He's probably digging up whatever prey he buried along the way, the leader reassured himself before closing his eyes once more. I'm sure he'll be back soon. Then I'll go hunting myself while he watches camp.

Frostmaw || Peakclan || Deputy || Location: Peakclan Camp || Mentions: Bearheart, Stormpaw

"Don't beat yourself up too hard over a single Sunup patrol, Stormpaw", Frostmaw smiled gently at the young apprentice, "Although, I admire your dedication to putting the needs of your clan before your own".  The deputy widened his eyes as Stormpaw mentioned she struggled to decipher the word 'meditation'. He froze for a second and thought on the apprentice's words carefully. "I see.", he didn't want to touch on any sensitive topics, so he steered clear of anything that might seem too personal. "Meditation is what my mentor, Rosewhisker, taught me when I was an apprentice like you.", he laughed a little, remembering all the days Rosewhisker and he would sit outside on a tall tree and just think with only the ambiance of wind and creatures around them.

Sitting in a relatively silent area had been the only way Frostmaw could keep up a happy attitude as of late. This whole... deputy thing came so sudden and quick and he was still learning the in's and out's. After all, it had only been 7 months since the beginning of his deputyship! He had hardly even gotten a chance to be a true warrior before that! He snapped back to reality, where he was standing with an Apprentice near their Medicine Cat. "I'd teach you if you'd let me.", the grey-blue Deputy smiled even bigger this time around, it was almost mischievous in a way of excitement.

Frostmaw could tell he might've torn an old wound when approaching Bearheart about the patrol, and he flattened his ears in an apologetic way for just a quick second, before returning to his smiley self as Bearheart agreed. "Fantastic! I'm glad you agree.", the Russian Blue said, maybe with a little too much excitement, but, how could he not be excited? Bearheart was a fierce warrior that was nearly 14 moons older than he. For Starclan's sake, he drove off a badger by himself and now sported a gnarly scar, not to mention the countless other ones from other battles. It really was a shame how one of the most valiant warriors, if not the most valiant, was driven off to care for cats and pick herbs.

"I was thinking we could go first to the Oakclan border, then continue along to the Lakeclan border and then up the river on our territory to the waterfall and back to camp?" Frostmaw shuffled his feet, "I still struggle with the best routes to take so, Bearheart, if you have a better path, please do let me know". The Russian Blue Deputy looked up at the Battle-ridden tom. Maybe Frostmaw wasn't the best at this Deputy stuff, but he sure had the best cats to guide him through it. Not only did he constantly go to Rosewhisker for advice, but the rest of the senior warriors, too, and now, if the tom wouldn't get annoyed with him, maybe he'd start going to Bearheart for help. I mean, what other cat to ask for advice? He was the most looked up to when it came to clashing with another cat. Frostmaw was very logical when it came to fighting, looking to predict the other cat's every move and counter based on that, but of course, he wasn't always precise. Maybe if Bearheart would agree, he could teach him something about brute strength.

Rainflower // OakClan Camp, Medicine Cat Den // Mentions: Patrol

Rainflower emerged from her den, watching the commotion from the camp. A patrol had returned. It was near sun-high now, and she was hungry from treating the elders of sores and aches all night. She walked over to the fresh-kill pile, grasping a rabbit in her mouth and dragging it back to her den, settling on the soft grass. She bit into the rabbit, chewing the fatty meat and swallowing it. Delicious. She finished the rabbit, picking it clean. Rainflower stood up, licking her lips, and slipped into her den, hovering over her unfinished medicines.

Honeyclaw // Lakeclan // Warrior // Lakeclan, Oakclan border // Interactions: Roughthroat, Boulderpaw

Honeyclaw was pacing along the border between Lakeclan and Oakclan, keeping an eye on her clan's territory border to make sure that no strange cats had crossed it, when she came across Roughthroat and Boulderpaw glaring at one another. There was a palpable tension in the air.

"Hey, you two," Honeyclaw said, stepping closer. "What's wrong?"

FLOWINGOAK // LOCATION: OAKCLAN CAMP// MENTIONS: EVENINGPAW, IVYCRY

Flowingoak smiled as he made his way into camp, elated at the sight of Eveningpaw eating a squirrel by the hole leading down into the Warrior's den. He padded over to her, swishing his tail against the ground.

"Sorry I'm late. I wanted to check something out." The tom said, sitting down beside her. Since he wasn't hungry, the sight of the nearly finished squirrel didn't cause any envy or his stomach consciously rumbling.

His blue eyes drifted over to Ivycry. "Thank you for bringing her back." He mewed, beginning to groom his shoulder.

Eveningpaw // Location: OakClan Camp // Mentions: Ivycry, Flowingoak

Eveningpaw flicked her tail in greeting and swallowed another bite of squirrel. "Aren't you hungry?" She asked, sniffing his fur. He faintly smelled of LakeClan, which worried her. Was he going to the border as she had predicted? She nervously glanced at Ivycry. "Where did you go while we came back to camp?"

Ivycry // Location: Oakclan Camp // Mentions: Eveningpaw, Flowingoak

Ivycry dipped her head to the deputy upon his arrival, her eyes filling with relief at his safe return. Silently, she thanked Starclan for watching over Flowingoak, and gave him a soft smile. She had a lot of admiration for both leader and deputy, especially since the latter had done something so dangerous to preserve their safety not that long ago. The faint scent of Lakeclan wafted into her nostrils, and she fought the instinct to scrunch up her nose in disgust.

A question lingered in her mouth, which parted and closed several times as she pondered voicing it - only for Eveningpaw to beat her to it. Ivycry turned her attention to the apprentice, silently commending her bravery to speak up first. "Are you alright..? Did anything happen?" She asked, genuine concern for the deputy - even though he was fully capable of defending himself if needs be. She was still on edge at having been ordered to take Eveningpaw back to camp by herself.

Roughthroat (alt) | Lakeclan Deputy | Location: Lakeclan Camp | Mentions: Sharpscar, Waspwatcher

The rain had slowed to a lazy drizzle, and though afternoon was already upon the cats of Lakeclan, Roughthroat had just found time to enjoy his first meal of the day. He'd selected a particularly scrawny vole that an apprentice had found by the water's edge a few days ago... it was no meal for a fully grown tom, but the deputy wanted to keep the meal light and quick. There was much more work to be done before the sun fell.

Finishing off the vole in a few more crunches, Roughthroat straightened to a sitting position and gave his chest fur a few irritated licks as he considered the next task at paw. The seemingly-endless rain mist and miserable humidity that pressed into him on all sides made him feel restless and short-tempered, but he reminded himself that the rain was a gift from Starclan, allowing the river to fill and the plants to grow. It was a little consolation, but in the back of his mind he couldn't help but take a jab at his ancestors. You aren't the ones who have to get your paws wet.

Deciding he'd already spent way too much time relaxing, Roughthroat rose to his paws and set off determinedly across camp, looking for one face in particular among the warriors who milled there. "Sharpscar." The deputy's voice rang clear across the camp, and his tone was brisk as it was authoritative as he waited for the toms to join him. "Patrol. Waspwatcher, care to accompany to get out of camp for a moment?"
