Pack Basics The Bluestone Pack is one founded not long ago, in the mountains and taiga. Here, hard work and experience are valued most out of their wolves. The roles in their hierarchy are as follows:
Elders have the second most honored role- being retired hunters, scouts, or herbalists whose role it is to train puppies. Scouts, herbalists, and hunters can choose to become an elder once they reach the age of 5- choosing a wolf to take their role once they graduate. Heirs also choose a wolf to take their place in the same manner once they ascend to leadership. Elders not only give knowledge to the young, but also to the Alpha and serve in the Alpha's council. The Alpha's Council is located in the sacred Midnight Den. Elders are always referred to as such, the term Elder preceding the name like "Elder Amanthu." Herbalists and Hunt Leaders also have a place in the Midnight Den. The two roles share a similar amount of respect from the pack, as they are considered the most devoted of their craft but can lack experience. Only one Herbalist can have this role at a time, and are the only role that can mentor even when they are not an Elder. An Herbalist will ideally choose their heir when they are very young as to be able to control their training. Hunt Leaders are chosen by the Alpha when forming a new hunting party or by the previous Hunt Leader as they retire. Hunt Leaders are not exclusively trained by the last Hunt Leader, and can specialize in any part of a hunt. They are chosen for their ability to work with the other hunters and maintain the respect of the pack. Hunt Leaders are not only responsible for leading their hunting party, but also for reporting to the Alpha about the status of their hunters and the pack as a whole. Hunt Leaders all wear a necklace with owl talons on it to denote their status. Hunters are respected workers, valued for their contributions to the pack. They are chosen by the previous hunter who had that position, ideally as young wolves or adolescents, as the previous hunter becomes an Elder or otherwise leaves the role. If the hunter dies without choosing a replacement, the Hunt Leader chooses the replacement. A wolf who is exiled or forced out of the role cannot choose their replacement, as their choice will not be respected. Hunters all sleep together in one open den, and are often referred to as Moonrunners. Scouts and Pupsitters The least prestigious of the roles, scouts and pupsitters are not looked as highly upon as the other roles, as these roles do not require much in the way of innate skill. Scouts were once highly revered but Kayuqtuq changed this. Scouts, much like the other roles, are chosen by a scout who is ascending to Elderhood, but pupsitters can go into or leave the role at any time. Pupsitters are often made out of idle wolves as the need arises. Scouts share a den with idle and adolescent wolves, while pupsitters stay with puppies and nursing mothers in the Twilight Den. No puppy or trainee is better than one another due to lineage, and Alphas are chosen for their eligibility rather than bloodline. Bloodlines are seen as significant, however, in predicting the value of a pup and upholding the wishes of the pack's founders. Sadly, many of these bloodlines have been lost in Kayuqtuq's famine.
