Allow Chased Wolves to Keep Their Age (Again)

Posted 2021-04-15 18:54:30 (edited)

I fully agree with your post. The new change was unnecessarily implemented and is harmful to players. As someone who occasionally raises and chases T3s, merles, etc. I would like to see a better, more thought-out solution that doesn't have such frustrating drawbacks.

Of the potential solutions that have been proposed, I think that number 2, which is re-rolling the ages of 5+ wolves only, is the best solution. First of all, it completely resolves the issue of wolves being found "too old." Second of all, it is vastly superior to the current system in that it doesn't harm R&Cers and/or the wolf market. It is a fair solution that everyone can be happy with; re-rolling the ages of every single wolf just doesn't make sense.

Update: Thank you Kitty <3

By "your" post that you fully agree you meant mine or Websteak? In my post, solution number 2 doesn't solve the issue I'm afraid of.

I... don't really think we have to worry about that, Dżanek. I don't really think it's going to be an issue. Big studs typically have a LOT of GC spent on them and are well-loved by the people who created them - same with fully customized/especially pretty pack members. I would assume them to want those wolves in their dynasty. I mean, I wouldn't chase my core pack myself - they've been with me too long and I have spent 30-70GC on each individual. (Never underestimate a person's attachment to a pixel animal.) If they don't, however... Well, it's their wolf. There's nothing wrong with them chasing it if they want to and we don't really have the right to try and discourage them that way. We don't have the right to demand someone else's wolf be put into a dynasty for us to stare at, especially if they're not even attached enough to want them there.

And thank you, Kitty, for the quick action and update. Very much appreciated. ^-^

@Dzanek: if a person wants to chase a stud/pretty wolf out of generosity, why is that a problem? Why would generosity be an issue? It doesn't really matter if there is a big chance we will never meet them again. If a person is so unattached to their stud that they don't care about it not being in dynasty, what is to stop them from chasing even if they know they will be deleted? Dynasty is really more for the account owner.

I know somewolf willing to chase their old NBW for a chance to appear younger, which wouldn't chase if the wolf was guaranteed to be removed. I understand them and I'm positive there are more players whose decision might depend on how the system would work. I sometimes like to review dynasties of my own wolves and I'm positive others also do so. I never blame other players for their playing decisions. I question the system and put a new argument in the discussion.

Even if they do chase their wolf and it is found, it isn't theirs anymore; you can't find your own chased wolves, nor demand to have them back from other users. There's no guarantee the other user will sell the wolf to you. The majority of players grow attached to their studs and keep them in their dynasties. In short, I don't think that re-rolling 5+ wolves will be an issue, and young wolves should retain their age upon being chased.

I agree with everything that you wrote (websteak). I also believe option two is the best option for everyone.
