Levels persist on becoming lead wolf?

Just that really; when a lead wolf dies, and a new one is selected, does that new lead keep the levels they earned before becoming a lead, or do they reset to level 1? I know that some things reset like territory explored, but wasn't sure on levels.

Your lead's level will reset to 0 once you crown a new leader. 
Actually I was wrong! The more you know. :D I asked a friend of mine and they stated that the level does not reset when a wolf becomes the lead. c:
