I. H I S T O R Y         

                                           Céla

                                                The Rise

                    In the beginning, there was darkness; cold and absolute. The early creatures that roamed the land were blind, bloodthirsty, and ruthlessly destructive, allowing little else to thrive in what they considered to be their domain. For thousands of years these beings ruled Céla without contest, until the inexplicable phenomenon that would forever transform their world; The Sundering.
                   No beings that ever came to be in Céla could explain what caused this tearing in the fabric of space and time, or why it continued to emit such a radiant light high above the mountains for centuries to come, however it allowed for new life to finally take root within its gentle rays. While the early creatures, which would later become known as The First, were eyeless, something about this light caused them to retreat underground in fear. Perhaps they were opposed to it on some sort of fundamental level, or perhaps they innately knew that The Sundering was not the beginning of a new era in Céla, but the end of all life on the surface of their world.
                   Eventually, with the threat of The First reduced to mere legend, a new apex predator rose to the top of the food chain; The Céllara. They would come to worship the site of The Sundering, believing the constant light in the sky to be a deity of sorts, and would eventually refer to it as The Light of Céla. The Céllara were a canine-like species born with strange abilities; some could wield power over the elements, some could heal mortal wounds with a touch of their paw, while the most powerful of all could control the very threads of time and space. It would later be speculated that the Céllara's powers were born of the radiation that was emitted during The Sundering, while others belived it to be a gift from The Light of Céla itself. Regardless, it would do little to prevent the catasrophic events that would soon tear their lives apart.

                                                The Fall

                          Once every turn around the Dead Star, it was customary for the Queen to visit the capital territory of Céla to lead her followers in a day of worship near the origin site of The Sundering. As current Matriarch of the Céllara, Lady Valeria was making a rare trip to the capital with her mate when The Light of Céla changed. At first, the creatures did not notice that anything was wrong with their deity. It was not until the rays began to morph, shifting from steady golden to pulsating green, that the Céllara looked to their sky in wonder and fear. When the gentle warmth they were used to suddenly became a painful heat that blistered the skin beneath their fur, Lady Valeria recalled the legend of The Second Sundering. It was said that one day, if the Céllara did not worship their Goddess with the fullness of their hearts, that she would forsake the world and start life anew. So when The Light of Céla began to expand, Valeria knew their Goddess was preparing to devour their world and anyone on it, and so called upon the gifts passed down to her from her ancestors. Throwing her power into the world as far as it could reach, the Matriarch tore her own portal through the dimensions of space, allowing a small population of the Céllara to pass safely into the Lunar Realms. Unforuntately, many would perish as The Light rippled across the planet... all except The First, safely tucked far beneath the earth in their burrows.
                          With their home and their loved ones destroyed, the surviving Céllara roamed the strange blue landscape for many moons until Lady Valeria regained her strength and was able to open another portal. Eventually they settled in a land known as Earth, taking on the shape of a common life-form that most resembled their original appearance: wolves. While their natural born abilities were greatly weakened away from The Light of Céla, the now-wolves discovered a mineral on Earth that seemed to at least boost their powers, which the natives referred to as iron. While the Matriarch would adorn herself with ornaments made of the rock, she would never again be able to form a portal out of their current realm. With no way to escape, and no where else to go if they could, the Céllara decided to shed their past and forge a different future under a new name. From that day forth, they became known as The Iron Coven.

II. D I C T I O N A R Y

Céla: A small planet in a binary star system light-years from earth, the birth place of the Céllara. It was connected to the Lunar Realms by The Light of Céla, allowing travel between it and Earth, but now sits alone and desolate far away in space.

The First: Pale, thick-bodied creatures that were the first inhabitants of Céla. They are eyeless and rely on their exceptional sense of smell and hearing to track and capture prey. The First were the apex predators on Céla for thousands of years until The Sundering allowed for a new species to rise to power, driving them far beneath the ground.

The Sundering: An unstable rip in the fabric of space and time high above the peaks of Céla's mountain ranges. For hundreds of years it emitted a steady light that The First were inherently fearful of, perhaps due to the radiation that came from within. This phenomenon allowed for new species to thrive wherever the light touched, namely the Céllara, until the rip eventually collapsed.

Céllara: Canine-like creatures that evolved on the planet of Céla and rose to become the new apex predators after The Sundering. Each Céllaran was born with a special ability of some sort, likely due to prolonged exposure to radiation. Once relocated to Earth, these creatures used the last of their powers to morph their bodies to match the native species that most resembled their original form; wolves.

The Light of Céla: Another name for the rip in space and time above the peaks of Céla, it was worshiped as a Goddess by the Céllarans.

Dead Star: One of the stars in the binary system, and closest in proximity to Céla, it is referred to as "dead" due to its low luminosity compared to its counterpart. Hardly any light from this star reaches the planet, bathing it in eternal darkness until the day of The Sundering.

The Second Sundering: A catastrophic event in which the "rip" eventually became unstable and collapsed in upon itself, after rippling across the planet and destroying nearly all life on the surface. It was the driving force behind the Céllara's refuge in the Lunar Realms and, eventually, their settlement on Earth.

The Iron Coven: Newly re-made Céllarans that have taken on the physical appearance of Earth born wolves. While they no longer possess the supernatural might they once did, these wolves retained traces of their powers that can be enhanced with the help of iron ores dug from the mountains in which they reside.

III. R A N K I N G S

Matriarch: Lead female of the Coven, always a direct descendant of the first ruler, Valeria. Amongst the pack she is informally titled as "Lady".

Consort: The mate of the Matriarch and co-ruler of the Coven. While they do not have as much authority as the Matriarch, the Consort still holds a high place of honor.

Heiress: Future Matriarch of the pack.

Elder: The retired members of the Coven, they are revered for their wisdom.

Shaman: Healer of the pack.

Ranger: The Scouts that monitor the territory borders.

Sentinel: Food-providers, guards, and more, the Sentinel role is a broad one. Some factions are primarily hunters, while others guard the den site.

Broodmother/Broodfather: These wolves take care of the Yearlings and Moonlings until they are old enough to apprentice.

Yearling: Wolves aged six months to a year.

Moonling: Wolves aged zero to six months.
