Event Items Exchange?

So I actually got this idea from a totally different game, but the idea is pretty simple: During the game's event you win a bunch of items as you work your way up to the main prize. You can exchange the items you've collected in return for event points (less than what you worked to get them of course) and put it towards the bigger prize. 

My suggestion would be to allow the Lunar Shoppe to take back items from previous events and give you half of the Lunar Tears it cost you last event. A lot of people hold on to the items (guilty lol) waiting for the perfect character to come along to add them to, but with new items every event I'm finding myself wishing I had held back because damn do some of the items look good! For example last month's markings compared to this month's are outstanding in my opinion. 

Limitations for this to keep it fair would of course be;
1) Every exchanged item would be half the worth of what you originally payed
2) Decorations need to be completely unused
3) If there's a way to track items being traded/sold by the event shop, any traded/sold items can not be exchanged 

So that's my suggestion. The biggest hurdle is definitely in #3, but hey, never hurts to put an idea out there. If I wasn't clear about anything let me know and I'll edit it for clarity. I'm just tossing out ideas is all because I really wish I could return some of these items. Sure it'd be worth GC to sell them but GC can't buy you event items without the hurdle of more GC spending and, honestly, not everyone will be selling what you're looking for. And you did earn those items after all, it's just they came out with something better. lol

I think this is cool! Especially with number 3, it’d be difficult to abuse
