Please don't introduce humans as battle-able enemies

@Celtic Ravens

Unfortunately I don't think you can link specific polls, but you can see it here. it should be the third from the bottom, and you can search for it by word-finding 'human.' The poll is the most anticipated enemy.

I can see what someone else was talking about, how it wasn't a landslide win like some said - being 51.93% for humans, and 48.07% for animals. This thread is also pretty old now, so I wonder if everyone still feels the same way?

The poll was about most anticipated enemies, though. That would imply that at least 51% of voting players are, at the very least, okay with humans

If over 50% of the site not only is neutral on humans but actually wants them, then it would be weird af if they didn't add them.

@ Whirligig Thanks! I've bookmarked it.

@ Ren  It would be interesting to see the poll run again with human encounters as the sole focus.

Personally I would love the option to set my Exploring sessions to human-free zone, but I don't code so I've no idea if that's a major pain to do or not.

The toggle idea is a good one, but I don't know either if it would be hard to implement. Many others have suggested toggling certain things, like the lunar event.

I'm against adding humans as any interaction at all to the game! It's an eyesore.

We are already put in a setting that is animal-centric, wolves being the main focus with their own in-game habits and personalities and activities (like herbalism and trading which are anthropomorphic traits given to the wolves in this fantasy setting). Adding humans in the mix feels super redundant, and not as interesting as just immersing in a fantasy where Wolves can race with deer and converse with some birds or help out other smaller animals in some explore prompts.

I like the implications that humans have had an impact in some ways, like the nets on seals or the sled dogs in encounters. I don't like seeing humans directly in my territory though! It's kind of obnoxious seeing a full-sized tent and cooler or man in a gilly suit with a gun pointed at the screen. I just skip those encounters entirely.

Personally, I don't like it for the immersion of being a wolf in a fantasy/natural setting. I also wasn't aware you could attack them at all. It feels better to be paired with another animal vs man with a weapon that can realistically be a one-shot kill (maybe not in the game's rolls, but irl).

I really liked before the update that it was just animal focused! It feels weird now. Also imagine as a human seeing a wolf with huge wings and ornate jewelry and glowing eyes and blue fur like with some of the customization we can do; idk I would think the humans would stay far, far away XD

Personally, I don't mind humans appearing in the game, provided the encounters are neutral and/or distant. The game was released with evidence of human habitation (dogs, livestock, ext), and those things aren't going to be removed from the game. I would have preferred a human-free world, but that's not currently feasible.

I just don't like human enemies. I live in a place with a lot of anti-wolf sentiment that aims to paint wolves as ruthless killing machines, and allowing players to kill people feeds too much into those narratives. Additionally, I just don't want players to be encouraged (through EX and other rewards) to attack and kill otherwise-peaceful humans who are just trying to survive. Killing wolf-hunters is one thing, but the current encounters don't imply that the human is any threat to the wolf.

@ Spider
Thanks, you expressed my feelings about seeing that ass with the gun suddenly pop up. It showed up 3-4 times yesterday. I skipped them, but lost energy, a chance to find toys/food, or interact with other animals every time.
It takes me out of the game immediately.

Now that they've added humans despite I'd say a decent amount of opposition, I can't help but be annoyed when I have to waste energy on discovering humans and then skipping past I understand that there are also plenty of people who don't care one way or the other about humans in the game and some who may have even specifically wanted it...but I don't see how it adds anything to the game. Unless they decide to do some sort of event in relation to it...?

After reading the latest feedback, I feel the most convinced by Whirligig who pointed out that above half of the Wolvden community preferred humans to be battled.

I think it's nearby impossible to make a toggle for human battles with balance kept since there are players who don't want to skip any fight but also dislike battling humans and the toggle might determine whether a player gets better or worse battles in terms of potential rewards.
