Please don't introduce humans as battle-able enemies

I noted some people bringing up a potential poaching event being a reason for no support, I've played Lioden an know how graphic that event is... However short of showing skinned bodies(which I highly doubt they'd do) wolf poaching/hunting isn't usually as brutal as hacking off a rhino's face, at least as far as I know. The event on Lioden is also used to get money to donate to anti-poaching. That to me makes the art worth it.
That said, this is not Lioden and may not even have such an event at any point, so disliking something on Lioden as a reason to be against seems a bit trivial to me since the devs don't want them to be clones. Seems doubtful they'll have all the same events if any are repeated here to begin with.

As others have said, no one has to engage in the fight if prompted.

(Also sorry if anyone's post got reported, on mobile and my phone slipped. No page loaded but I don't know if that means things are safe or not.)

Yeah, I think this is really bad idea too. Humans should not be in this game. I just feel, in general, this world is free of humans. It feels wrong and out of place. Not to mention having to attack them. It's bad enough we have to randomly attack mostly peaceful creatures.

One of the biggest concerns I have with introducing human battle enemies is that we don't actually know yet if these fights are going to be avoidable. In theory, yes, any battle encounter is skippable - but in cases like the lunar events, where battling is the main way to earn currency, or daily snake quests that ask you to slay specific enemies, simply skipping past every human battle isn't practical. Players who aren't comfortable attacking humans would essentially be punished for it by losing out on event currency or having to pay to skip quests.

Obviously I don't speak for anyone else, but personally I'd accept humans as battle enemies if we had a guarantee that human battle enemies would:

  • Never be part of events that require battling to gain currency,
  • Never be asked for in slay quests, and
  • Wouldn't drop exclusive trophies that couldn't also be gained through a non-violent option.
I would still be disappointed in the choice for many reasons, but I'd accept it as a reasonable compromise. At the very least, it would mean that fighting humans would be truly optional.

With the info we have now though, I really don't think "just skip them!" is an adequate solution for players that don't want to fight humans.

I'm a new player who just found this post.

I support not having humans as battle encounters, though would be semi-supportive of passive encounters that don't involve violence. Living in the US, I'm disappointed by the lawmakers who don't care about the role of wolves in an ecosystem and the cruelty being displayed towards them for just...being alive. I'd hate to have this game reinforce ignorant stereotypes and would find violence between wolves and humans to be unpleasant.

After some thought, I realized why I'm not keen on having humans play any greater lore role in WD.

Wherever humans exist, they control things. They can use their control for good (conservation efforts, research, radio collars) or for bad (shooting wolves for sport), but regardless, the choice lies with them. Any wolves living in the same area are subject to the humans' whim. That's an unfortunate truth about our world. I like to imagine Wolvden as a different place where my wolves are the masters of their domain. It's not a rosy utopia - hunting in winter can be tough, my lead gets beaten up by bears on a semi-regular basis - but we are free in a way that just isn't possible in an area inhabited by modern humans.

That's why I'd rather not have humans as battle-able enemies, and I'd also rather not have "good" human encounters either (e.g., coming across a researcher who's observing me). I don't have any inherent issue with fighting and killing humans but I'd just rather they exist as little as possible in this world.

No support.

I'll just say that first off, I realize this is not Lioden. However, the people who work on both sites have a certain style and will most likely stick to it. That being said! YES. There are anti-poaching themed encounters on Lioden and I would certainly support them here. ALSO. There are lots of positive encounters as well. Wildlife photographers, people on safari, scientists, etc. Given that they put good and bad interaction with humans on Lioden, I'd assume they'd stick to that style here.

More also!  I saw a few comments about how small this community is. We're pretty niche around here. You'd have to be doing some seriously targeted searching to run into a screenshot of wolf on human aggression going on here...  just saying. Anyone looking that hard will find a lot better ammo than Wolvden or they'll make some up. Those people be all sorts of nutterbutters.

I support this, and for the simple fact that the devs have already stated in the past that "This game is fantasy". It's not meant to be realistic, it's meant to be as unrealistic and silly as you want... the inclusion of humans ruins that for me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. I don't want to have to see or worry about human encounters like hunters and poachers, or even innocent people who aren't doing anything... That would completely ruin the game for me, in terms of immersion and enjoyment, and I'd prefer to stick to the other worldly and fantasy aspects of the game.

I support not bringing humans into the game overall. I use Wolvden as an escape and would like to keep it as close to not being human-involved as possible.

Unfortunately, I wasn't around to vote when the poll came out, but I absolutely see why this could leave a bad taste. Definitely supporting! I don't think there should be human encounters involving fighting, and I'm leaning toward the opinion of having no humans at all. Half of the players use fantasy lore anyway, including me, it would be strange to see humans around. For me, it is indeed hard to imagine real human presence in a setting with lunar events, tears, whatsoever, and just prefer to think this is a world without humans altogether, however, I know they are somewhat "canon". Literally, everything I would have wanted to add was said already. Thank you so much for this post!
