You are welcome to read, but please do not post. If you want to ask me about this post or its contents or anything related, you can shoot me a message. Thanks!

This is the post for the stories about my pack and its members. I would put these in the individual wolf bios, but its easier to keep track of them here. The post for my pack's lore can be found here: link

These will be in chronological order, or at least, I will try to keep them in chronological order. In the Table of Contents, I will eventually add links to each individual story for easy navigation.

Silver Beginnings

Part One

After the beginning of winter, two young wolves set out on a journey.

Their home pack had already been struggling with food, and when winter set in, its unfortunate hunters could not kill, let alone find, any prey. Everyone was starving. The two wolves saw how bad things had become. Though they had wished to stay in their home pack, at least for a while longer, it would be selfish to do so. Thus, the two took on the burden of leaving the pack behind.

It was night when they set out - they did not wish to disturb anyone as they left. The leader would understand their intentions. Quietly leaving the caves, they met by the cedar tree at the edge of the den. Solemnly looking behind, wishing a final goodbye to the pack, their long, hard journey began.

They were great friends, Neali and Recali. Though they weren't familiar with each other as very young pups, they soon became almost inseparable. They were both quiet by nature, and sometimes they barely even talked to each other, but that wasn't at all a problem - they simply enjoyed being around each other. It was clear that wherever one would go, the other would follow. So when Neali felt that she could no longer stay in the pack, Recali was ready to go with her.

They were not quite adults yet, and they stood out as they traversed the snow-laden landscape. This winter was particularly harsh, and the two encountered many a hunting team desperate to scrounge up food for their pack. The two struggled with hunger as well, often finding little more than a rabbit. At the end of a day of traveling, Neali and Recali near collapsed from exhaustion and hunger. They were determined to make it, but it was growing more difficult to survive by the day.

Winter was taking its toll.

As they plodded through the snow, crossing over many a hill and through many a forest, Neali and Recali would tell each other stories. And when they needed to rest, they would lie down by each other, sharing warmth, and talk about their dreams for the future. They would fall asleep, content in each other's presence. The world around them was bleak, but their hope was bright.

It was this brightness that brought them to the attention of the Silver Falcon.

Flying out of sight of the two adolescents, the Silver Falcon had its eye on them for a while. The Silver Falcon was no ordinary creature. It could see the hope carried in their hearts and saw an incredible potential in them both. In the days following its initial sighting of Neali and Recali, it watched from afar, impressed by their resilience and determination. As winter reached its midpoint, the Silver Falcon was confident in its assessment, and as the two settled to rest, it flew down to greet them.

Hearing the faint flapping of wings, Neali and Recali turned their gaze skyward and saw a bird descending. As it got closer, they could tell that it was a raptor of some sort. As it glided towards the earth, its silvery wings caught the sunlight and gleamed with a dazzling light, wonderful to behold. Finally, it landed gracefully on a fallen tree, mere feet from the wolves. Neali and Recali glanced at each other. This was no ordinary bird.

The Silver Falcon was a little amused seeing the two wolves look at it in wonder. But looks of awe grew tiring, so it decided to break the stunned silence.

"Hello there! I am very pleased to meet you. Might I ask your names?"

The goldenrod-pelted wolf spoke first, taking a step forward. "My name is Recali."

"And I am Neali." Said the brown-furred wolf, whose voice was deeper than expected.

Both of their stomachs growled. The Silver Falcon realized how gaunt and hungry they looked. "You look like you have been traveling a while, you must be worn out. Please, wait here just a moment, and I shall bring you some food."

The two wolves glanced at each other again before the Silver Falcon lifted into the sky with a mighty rush of wind, then disappeared into the forest.

Silver Beginnings

Part Two

Barely five minutes later, the Silver Falcon returned. Clutched in its talons was small doe, which it appeared to carry without even a hint of difficulty. It carefully set it down in front of the two wolves and with a nod, encouraged them to eat. Making sure to thank it, they dove in, splitting the food between themselves. Once the doe was picked clean, the Silver Falcon began to talk again.

"I imagine that you may have a lot of questions for me, and chief among them is who I am."

Neali nodded, sitting down. Recali had already lain down and was gnawing on one of the doe's bones.

"Well, I will be direct. I am the Silver Falcon, the Spirit of the Wind. I am one of the thirteen major Spirits that watch over this land. We make up a pantheon of sorts. And as I was surveying this area, I happened to notice two unusually bright souls."

Suada's Return

The memory, though distant, had returned to her mind. And it was all she could think about now. She was a tiny pup in that memory, she and her siblings cuddled into her mother's fur, the fur of the kindest wolf in the world. Her eyes were only recently opened, and she could see her mother's eyes, one blue and one brown, gazing at her with love. "Your eyes are just like mine, little one." The sound of pawsteps. Her mother looked at the visitor. "They're lovely, aren't they, Neali?"

And that was the end of the memory. It was all Suada had of her early life with her mother. She did not stay long in her birth pack, as another pack adopted her. She did not know the reason that her mother had given her up, but she suspected that resources had run thin.

The memory continued to pester her. There was so much she did not know. She loved the pack that had adopted her, of course. She wouldn't have spent over four years of her life here if she did not. But Suada could not reconcile herself with that memory. She had to know who her mother was, who her family was, why she given to another pack. And so, after living much of her life in this pack, Suada knew it was time to bid them farewell.

She approached the pack's leader with her intent to leave. He understood, and wished her safe travels and good luck in her search. Before she left, Suada had one question. "Have you heard of a wolf named Neali? That name may be all I have to search for."

He thought for a moment. "There was a story about a Neali that was circulating around some time ago. It was a story about how she defeated a grizzly bear by herself. I may be mistaken on this, but I believe the story came to us from prairie-dwellers in the south."
