Also @Whirlgig a lot of people control Traveling Wolves even though they're not in their den anymore so I'm not sure why chased wolves wouldn't apply similarly?

I had a Pyrope I chased found by a user and I didn't get her back despite entering the contest she was given away in, and I'm not upset about it. I would have loved to get her back but she was no longer my wolf after she got chased.

Traveling wolves are a whole different bag. Chasing means forfeiting the wolf, traveling wolves is giving a wolf to another with rules attached. There are no such rules for chasing a wolf.

Though while people put rules on travelling wolves, they can't actually control the wolf when it's in someone else's hands. But that's a hot mess of a discussion there.

So if I wanted a wolf back and offered to buy them back, finder said no, them turned around and sold/raffled...yeah that would tick me off. I do want to add though that is only if they sell it to some random player! If they have a friend/family on here that just really really wants that wolf then I understand finder putting them over me.

At least for me, the second I chase a wolf I forfeit any right I have to it. Whoever finds it, it's their wolf now. If they decide to sell it or offer it back to the chaser, then the chaser can feasibly get the wolf they chased back, but that decision is up to the finder to make. Which is why I never expect to get any of the wolves I chase back, that way my hopes don't get dashed. If I really like a wolf, I'll keep it regardless of messy lineage/inbreeding - but I understand why people wouldn't :)

Travelers are an odd case because Wolvden doesn't have a system implemented for them, and it's entirely managed by players, so technically I regard travelers the same - once a wolf is no longer in your possession, you don't have a right to them. Which sucks, and is why I dont do travelers. I find the idea super cool - but it's also super trust reliant.

I agree with the traveling wolves thing.
I honestly don't trust people with my wolves, except for my friends irl, because there have been too many cases where people don't give wolves back to the original owner of the traveler.

I'm one to talk because I've only chased my non-keepers and non-chaseds, and I really only chased one oldie to give him a chance, but if I had to give my two cents, I don't care what other people do with my babes, though if I know one of them made it in the chased pool, I'd be really happy to know that :}

I think they need to implement a system for Travelers. That would be helpful.

I always try to be nice and offer the chased wolf back with proof. But I agree with everything you said food?

Imo chased belong to the one who found them, and if a finder gives them back (or even agrees to sell them back to you instead of someone who offers more money), it's a courtesy they do you, not a right you have.

When you chase you take the risk that they won't come through the pool, that the finder will fail at befriending (though I'd be pissed if people didn't even *try*), and that the finder will not want to give/sell to you.

Travelling wolves are different: it's someone who gives you a wolf free of charge with the expectation that you will follow the rules that have been clearly laid out.

When you give back a chased wolf you lose a valuable chased slot you've been lucky enough to get, that you could have used for money, a good NBW wolf, or something else you needed. (and where's the joy in finding a chased if you know it's not really yours and you *have* to give it back?)

I also it consider rude to ask someone back for a wolf you chased (unless, of course, they offered). I once had a wolf I chased, it was found, chaser did not offer, well I posted in the chased spotting thread to celebrate them being found but I did not contact the finder.
