[Grouse House Guide] Wolf Lifespan, Puppies, & Training

Sorry for responding here, maybe it's been mentioned already, but I don't think this is true now:

At rollover, pups of nursing age will have increased survival rates (+7%) if the nursing mother's mood and hunger are both at 100%. If only one of these statuses is at 100%, the nursing pup(s) will suffer a survival penalty (-8%). If both the mood and hunger are less than 100%, the survival penalty is larger (-15%).

It may have been true at one point, but I'm newer and I think it's changed...

If I feed mom/pup to 100 but her mood stays below 100, the pup(s) will receive no change to survivability based on that care factor because "the penalties and bonus even out" or something along that line in the summary's wording.. . I've never noticed a penalty of -8,only a penalty of -7 when care has not been fully completed on the pup or nursing mom, and the bonus +15 when everything has been cared for.

((Or is this strictly about the nursing mom?  Maybe this -8 doesn't happen when an individual pup is fed to 100 but mood is below 100, perhaps that's when there is 'no change'..))

Hey! So this is actually an inconsistent thing and semi-correct! If the mother is fed but not played with, the penalties cancel out as you said it should but if she's played with but not fed the pups get -8% penalty as the guide says.

Question cause I don't quite understand something. So what Stats are best to train a puppy for an herbalist position? I know the beginner foraging is obviously one of them lol but which of the 3 hour lessons would apply to that too?

Surprisingly enough, the Beginner Foraging puppy training probably won't help your wolf out as a herbalist too much. The titles of the trainings, like "Beginner Foraging", "Chasing & Escaping", etc, usually don't reflect how they'll benefit the pup in the future, as everything is just based on stats.

For a herbalist specifically, the herbalist tutorial mentions that the role uses Wisdom and Smarts. So, any of the Wisdom or Smarts puppy training lessons will theoretically benefit your pup as a future herbalist as they will gain extra stats in those categories. The Beginner Foraging lesson gives Agility, so it won't help. However, I say theoretically because we don't have any proof of these stats actually affecting herbalism.

For training a pup to be an herbalist in the future I would just recommend finishing all of the Wisdom and Smarts puppy lessons, and then doing one three hour lesson for any other stat, as this will maximize the stats that the pup earns. In terms of three-hour lessons, this would be Working Together and Recognising Danger. And, if Wisdom and Smarts do help with herbalism, your pup will get a head start with those as well. Then just make sure they're participating in herbalism apprentice training later on. ^^

Hi! Thanks for the guide, it's super useful!
I just wanted to let you know: in the very first post, the link to the Pup Training part of the tutorial is wrong and actually leads to the Enclave part.
