Discussion: Feeding & Care Changes

I was thinking about Feed All Play All because feeding them individually is really time-consuming, especially for those with bad internet. I'm glad its being talked about to make this much easier!

I like this idea for food, but not for toys. A lot of toys are craftable, and I like to wear them down to one use and then craft them. It would feel like a waste to me if the whole toy converted.
Maybe a way to select HOW many uses get converted?

As a concept it sounds a good idea but I'm not sure how to feel about it. As many have already said "Processing" sounds very artificial action name which I'm not very big fan of. Plus playing with your wolves with a pile of generic toys makes me feel even more distant to my wolves than I already am with the lack of itemless entertaimnet option such as play and tussle but with this it makes me feel that I'm just feeding my wolves with artficial dog food that I processed for them and throwing some generic toys for them to entertain them. It doesn't make feel like playing as wolf pack but as owner of a dog pound. One thing i love about Lioden was that each food and toy item had unique interaction text about how they tasted or how they played with them but Wolvden seriously lacks this charm for me, every carcass and toy has generic "x played with this thing and gained 10 mood" and i can only see it become little too factory like for my liking. I'm not sure how to improve this, but this is simply my take and feelings on current WD feeding and playing

Sounds cool! I'd like to be able to decide how much to feed/play with wolves (default would be full) and to completely deselect a wolf I'm trying to starve out so they don't get fed

I'm really glad that admins are taking suggestions for this! My pack consists of over 100 wolves atm and feeding and playing with them every day is a hassle. Add in the fact that I don't have enough food for everyone, and I often have to go through the extra trouble of making sure no wolf gets more than they absolutely need.

I actually posted a survey up in Watering Hole with some general questions about Wolvden, and almost 40% of my 49 respondents agreed that feeding and taking care of their wolves took up too much time.

I'm not sure how I feel about the "Processing" idea, but for people like me who have so little food they go through the extra work of selecting exactly how many uses each wolf needs to eat, I suggest something like the following:

Clicking the "Advanced" button leads to a menu below that allows players to select how many uses each wolf in their pack will receive without having to do so individually -- which is something I have to resort to all too often and takes an unreasonable amount of time.

Wolves in danger of leaving the pack will appear with a warning sign next to their name -- and players can select "View only hungry wolves" to filter the wolves shown:

This would personally be ideal for me. I don't know exactly what other people are looking for, but a way to minimize the hassle of selecting uses individually would be really neat for people with large packs and little food, like me :')

@Shadow they talked about basically doing this per cave, which seems even easier for very big packs (I already have a "starve those out" cave, whose name conveniently starts with an end-of-the-alphabet letter, so I wouldn't even have to change my organisation)

@Fal I know! :') But it seemed like that meant it would automatically feed all wolves in a cave until they were full/no food remained. This would hopefully allow users to have more control over that, if that makes sense!

Oh, you're right! I re-read the first post and actually choosing wolf feeding level per cave was just about FAPA (very last paragraph)
