"a union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations." Definition of what an alliance is...Its a union of two or more parties coming together to mutually benefit each other...if that doesn't scream what clans on LD and WD are supposed to be then idk what does lmfao

Ah, man. I kind of hate all the names in the poll. So many sound very official/formal, like an organisation or in some cases a human building (lodge, house, guild, etc.).  I would've preferred something casual like "meeting place," "the gathering den," or the likes. Something a bit more wolf-themed considering it's a site about raising wolves?

I guess it doesn't matter in the end, it'll be used by people no matter what it's called. I'm just being picky.

@Sabueso:

Clans/groups/whatever you want to call them, are really what people make of them. In a "social group" type feature, it isn't always necessarily for mutual benefit. It could be a roleplaying group, a group based around an art style, etc. etc. Some people may choose to use them for mutual benefit, some may choose to just have a group of on-site friends so that they can all communicate together in one place.

In my opinion, if there was ever a feature where groups were involved in some of the activities that were mentioned in the Clan Discussion thread, that would be an instance where it would be about mutual benefit and whatnot.

@Flower:

There's nothing to say that you can't call a group that. Really what it comes down to is, what is the URL going to be for these individual groups.

For example:
wolvden.com/lodge/1234
wolvden.com/guild/4567
etc.

Doesn't quite flow as nicely with:
wolvden.com/meeting-place/123
wolvden.com/gathering-den/456

I hope that makes sense!

@Michael

So no clan raffles? no clan hoard? Is there not going to be a way to pool currency for giveaways?
Even the purely social aspect is mutually beneficial to everyone in the group as it allows an easy way to help each other and share advice about the game.

But ig I kinda see a little of what you're sayign so I'll leave it to die there.

Edit: Might I add that it would also be enjoyed for a roleplaying aspect as well seeing as having an alliance in a roleplay is much more pleasing to read about than "group" or "Lodge"

@ Michael
I'm sorry for responding slowly, my internet's a bit of a mess because we've had rain for some 30+ hours now non-stop.

That does make sense though, thanks for clarifying! I never thought about how it might lengthen the url (and make it awkward if someone has to retype the dang thing), thanks for bringing it to my attention.

In hindsight my comment was overly negative towards a very minor thing and I'm not really sure why I felt the need to act like that, I'm sorry about that. I'm grateful for all the work you all put into this site. <3

Honestly, I don't really like the names offered. Some of the options (club, house) feel inordinately human for a game where we play as wolves. I voted, but don't feel any affinity towards what I voted for (and already feel like I should have voted otherwise as a result. Whoops.)

I admit that I liked the name alliance. It's one I'm already accustomed to encountering in wolf fiction which helps keep it from feeling out of place.

@cryptated

Exactly, Alliance is a term used in a lot of fictions about wolves and werewolves and the sort. Other than Pack, alliance is the second biggest term used to associate a gathering of wolves in fictions. And for RP many liked it as an aspect of that.

Who cares if its not used for mutually benefiting each other, or its fudged the definition a little? Its about the lore and what idk the users want? Alliance sounds much cooler than any of the dull names given in the poll but ig we don't actually have a choice on what we want to call it especially since over half the posts on the clan thread wanted alliance
