🔎 Search Adoptable Puppies

Posted 2021-11-01 20:30:04 (edited) #552036 To state the obvious, there are lots of adoptable puppies available in the Enclave. I think rather than sifting through 30+ pages of pups, the ability to sort through them would be a wonderful quality of life addition. Search by base group, gender, stats, etc. Plus, it might help players complete Enclave quests where specific pups are just not available on the site. If you guys have any thoughts, expressing them in the comments is most welcome! Addendum: Search parameters should be by group. The idea is to make the Adoptable Pups more digestible and less overwhelming, not a race for special bases and markings. Heritage searches to make sure a pup isn't inbred would also be a welcome addition.

Posted 2021-11-02 08:37:07 #552213 Just personally, I kinda like the scavenger hunt aspect of the Enclave. If I want a really specific kind of pup (say, a 500+ stat pup with a chaser build, or a 400+ stat cool T2 female with merle) then I go to the trading center or the Wanted: Wolves forum. But if I want to impulse snag a cute pup without being too fussy about details, I go to the Enclave. I also feel like having a search would exacerbate the issue of those who are up at rollover getting all the "good" pups. It'd just be a question of who could type T3 into the search bar the fastest at 00:01 WD time. Now at least people have to hunt for them and guess.

Posted 2021-11-02 08:56:05 #552220 No support of searching for anything appearance related but it would be nice to be able to filter it by gender and maybe stats high-low or low-high. Maybe even filter by clean heritage since their background is known. I see a lot of people already using the adoption thing for quests and death instead of actually caring for the pups and that would only be doubled if they told you the pup's appearance. As said above, that also allows people to immediately get any treats or surprises without any effort put into it.

Posted 2021-11-02 09:29:08 #552254 I will support this, although I am against appearance searching (mut, base, eyes, etc) because I think part of that is supposed to be a surprise, but definitely would like a stat and heritage filter (since you can already view those as it is).

Posted 2021-11-02 09:38:38 #552266 I'd support filtering by stats and gender definitely, since those can be seen immediately, and if there was a way to tell NIB from IB that would be a good filter too. A personality type filter would be great as well. Maybe a nice thing to have that isn't immediately obvious (without checking the heritage) would be filtering by base group only? (Ie warm, monochrome, muted, cool) That's a vague enough category that it wouldn't detract too much from the fun of guessing bases/markings. I only breed monochrome and muted in my pack, and I have terrible eyesight, but whilst I'd like for it to be a little easier without clicking four different pages to make sure the parents aren't able to throw other groups, I don't want to be handed exactly what i want on a platter for free. That's just not fair to the people who are selling their pups on the TC.

I'll just reply in general best I can: I'm not really the sort to impulse buy since this game can be pretty punishing if you have too many wolves in your den, so I didn't really come at it from that angle. But, that's a totally fair, understandable approach. Same with the scavenger hunt aspect, which I can agree with! One thing I don't understand is how adopting a certain puppy is a surprise as you see the portraits of them before you adopt. Aside from possible mutations or a surprise base that was hiding under the markings, it's not random. Besides, searching for mutations or special markings wasn't what I had in mind when suggesting this anyways. Should've made that clear when I wrote the suggestion, so I apologize haha! The intention for a search would be to make the sheer, overwhelming number of pups in the Enclave more digestible. Though, to prevent people from racing to obtain Special/T3 pups and keep the 'scavenger hunt' aspect, I do agree the search parameters should be more vague. Search by base group, gender, stats and such as other people suggested. Cause, hey! You still might need to go through 5 or so pages of pups before you settle on something you like. I'll add a lil addendum to reflect this.
