NIB (aka "Clean") Breeding?

Posted 2020-10-11 13:27:38

Okat so this is what I have for heirloom and starter pair

HW (Heirloom Wolves) - This when players don't modify their wolves with GC items, like shuffle/applicator markings/or delete markings, and continue breeding NIB wolves. This term was created by  Khoshehk #5362 and their forum can be found at Heirloom Wolves

OGL (Original Pair Line) - When the pack/lead wolves are related to a original starter wolves.

  • OGP (Original Pair) - When a wolf/pack is descendent from both original lead wolves.

yeah but I mean you could have a wolf with an NBW grandmas on both sides that is the same NBW wolf and not two different wolves. and you could only confirm it she was alive or in the dynasty

Then should there be a category for that then? Since its not NIB?

The first instance I've seen of the term Heirloom was by Newfluffland (#751) on the "Breeding Terminology for Future Reference - A Proposal" thread in September (link to the post here). I haven't seen this new definition until now, but that's actually a pretty interesting playstyle. I was going to call myself an Heirloom breeder based on Newfluffland's use of the term, but if Khoshehk's version is going to be the more common and more established playstyle then it looks like I'm out for the time being! Most of my breeding wolves are customized to some degree haha.

So maybe two subgroups of heirloom?

I will probably just breed without worrying about their heritage, but each to their own :) NIB breeding seems interesting and challenging, I just don't have the time and energy for that.

This is coming along great so far. Do you mind if I add the definitions for OGL and OGP to my clan thread @Elliebird and @AshPaw? I would like to avoid using alpha as well, since it's based on outdated research

Can you not see the ID number if the wolf isn't alive @Kali? That is a problem, for both heritage breeders and mutation breeders. You could get told that a certain named wolf in the heritage is a carrier for a mutation, but there would be no way to confirm it hadn't been named the same as an actual carrier, simply to boost the value. We definitely need to be able to see the ID number regardless, and maybe have the same counter LD does

Since Newfluffland's proposed use of "heirloom" seems to be a synonym for clean or NIB, I'm not sure it needs to be maintained? Might be less confusing to just have Khoshehk's? Though of course if other's disagree that's fine!

@VagueShapes Absolutely, go ahead. I'm happy you liked the suggestion.

Yeah this is what I said about Heirloom wolves, HLW (Heirloom Wolves) - This when players don't modify their wolves with GC items, like shuffle/applicator markings/or delete markings, and continue breeding NIB wolves. They are listed underneath the NIB term on my thread, Lineage Clan
