Development Update #14

Remnants should have their own tab. It would make more sense than lump them in the Other category.

I have to admit the more I read other opinions and the more I think about it, the less I like remnants. I had to take all of my amusement items off of trading center, they used to be a major source of income. Now their value has either plummeted or no one knows how much worth they are. At least herb prices should remain the same.

I hope the current system will be fixed so we could use normal amusements, those still not in remnant stage, immediately for crafting.

I'm REALLY happy about feeding from stacks!!

I don't mind remnants, but I do find it pretty annoying you have to use them to craft. Really would have liked it to allow you to use the original item along with remnants. I have a lot of fox items saved and I have to use a good amount of them on my wolves first to craft with them now? Okay, I can get a little more use out of them before crafting, but that's a lot of work to convert one by one.

I am hesitant to use up my trophy drops because I'm not sure if all of them are going to turn into remnants, or if some of them won't drop remnants because they aren't yet used in any recipes. Like, I know wolf skulls are used in the Sentinel recipe, for example. So I can safely use those up. But are there currently any recipes that use mustelid drops or arctic fox drops?

@mercurie: Not all trophies will drop Remnants, only ones that are currently used in crafting recipes.  You can see all items that turn into Remnants when used here: https://www.wolvden.com/item-catalogue?searchTerm=remnant&category=Other&order=&search=

Anything not listed there will not turn into a Remnant when you use it up.  There are currently three items that drop Remnants that probably shouldn't though (Dead Fish, Fox Pelt [Swift], and Fox Tail [Swift]).  This has been Bugboxed as it's likely an oversight since no recipes use those items.

There should be some kind of a sign or mention if an item will be turned into a remnant or not, I guarantee you new players won't know to look through item catalogues just to see if it's safe to use the item. This also makes the game even more laborious, as if all the spam clicking wasn't enough while feeding and amusing, now you have to look at the item catalogue while doing it!

@Narasimha: You're welcome to suggest this on the Game Development forum!  Suggestions posted in the news are much less likely to be seen and acknowledged versus suggestions posted in the designated forum category, and I do not believe anyone has made a formal suggestion for this yet.

I think an option to go back to your hoard after using up a stack would help, especially since you have to literally click on the hoard button right now.

Remnants is such a wonderful feature, thank you for adding it! So excited that I can get out all my amusement items from my buried & use them up without worrying about missing crafting materials!
Will I still hoard some things that aren't yet set up for remnants in case of future recipes? You betcha, but at least I don't have to worry about my fox items or wolf items anymore.

@rowan bean - Do save your arctic fox items! They still don't have remnants. I lost two fox tails because I assumed they did!
