Vanya's pads hit the ground awkwardly, sticks cracking under her and leaves rustling as she disturbed them. Her gait was peculiar and awkward, making her position obvious. She had been walking for what seemed like ages, her knees having given out beneath her multiple times. If only she could have normal legs. What was a short jaunt for a normal wolf ended up a horrible trek for her, taking her twice as long because of her poor joints. But she had finally arrived... She laid down in the center of the field, surrounded by the beautiful flora which she often visited the clearing for. It was very close to the center of her pack's territory, and the rest of the pack often avoided coming near, to avoid interacting with her. She was the omega of the pack, unable to hunt or fight because of her knees, constantly collapsing under herself. Her eyes closed, her thoughts clearing themselves as she let the warmth the sun let off soak into her fur. Her warm brown pelt was beautiful, at least it would be if it wasn't suddenly interrupted by patches of white. It was a visible sign of her weakness. She was always visible, never fully blending into the snow, nor the dirt. Her knees were also a part of her defect. She could never hunt, her knees suddenly giving out, and giving away her position. It was a wonder why she hadn't been abandoned. Although her family loved her, for the most part. Her parents and siblings were always there to take care of her, and she was given menial tasks to do in return. She would babysit her younger siblings, and sort out the den, keeping it tidy. Those were the only jobs which could be seen as useful that she was capable of doing. She shook her head slightly and laid her chin on her paws, her breath escaping her mouth as she felt something land on her nose, pushing it away. She was alone, and vulnerable. But what else could she do? |

All Crow felt was an intense pain that shot up to her chest as she walked, causing her to suddenly collapse and hit the ground face first. "Get up.. get up you bastard!" She growled to herself, so quietly that it was barley even audible. Despite falling in the dirt, her pelt was perfectly clean, as if she had some strange force that repelled anything that could make her dirty. But no, she just constantly groomed herself. Crow slowly rose to her paws and continued to walk for a bit, completely unaware she had just crossed a scent border made by a pack. She had just caught a whiff of water, which she so desperately needed. Finally, she reached the source of the water, but noticed a strange smell. It was rather distinct and didn't seem to be far away. Crow nervously raised her head and looked around before she reached a paw up to the back of her head, using one of her unnaturally large claws to undo the straps on her mask. It fell to the ground, exposing the scars that had been permanently etched into her skin. The scars that caused her to become so embarrassed of herself that she wore a mask just so others wouldn't judge her. Crow only liked her eye colours, which were gold and light pink. It was unnatural, but her body wasn't very natural looking either. She dipped her head down to the small water pool and began to lap up some of the water, ignoring how foul it seemed to taste. After she had finished drinking, she slipped the mask back on and tightened the straps that held it on, making sure to hide them in her fur. It was a simple process to take it on and off, it was designed specifically for her. Originally it was gifted to her so she didn't have to smell the sickness that had been going around at the time, but she couldn't just ditch it after that.It made her feel safe, knowing that no one had to see her horrid face or judge it. After making sure the mask was nice and tight, she left the water pool and approached that strange smell that seemed to grow stronger the more she walked. Crow had paused as she stared out across a field, eyes searching for anything there. She did have a small blind spot and couldn't see directly in front of her, so she had to tilt her head to the sides to see better and such. After making sure no one was there, she trotted out into the field, headed directly towards the center. Suddenly, she tripped over something small and audibly gasped, rather surprised and startled. Crow scrambled off of them, hoping she didn't happen to crush them. She was a large creature and could easily crush most other things smaller than her, which made it easy for her to hunt without having to use her teeth. She glanced down at what she had tripped over, and then she grew even more shocked. "I'm so sorry! I didn't.. I didn't mean to!" Her voice was shaky as she crouched down and waited to be either smacked or nipped at. |

Vanya sighed quietly, her mind drifting as she her ears were flooded by the sounds of the birds, in the trees distantly surrounding her. The jays, robins, chickadees all assaulting her ears with their calls. She hated them. They always sounded so beautiful, and they were free to do what they wanted, go where they pleased. She was chained to the earth, having to drag herself if she ever wanted to go. She could never survive like them. If only... She could feel herself drifting off, her mind clearing as the light embrace of sleep consumed her. She was stuck. Her paws couldn't move. There was something coming toward her. Thump. Crash. Snap She needed to get out, she needed to run away, she needed to run. But, she couldn't. Her heart raced and her sides heaved as she was about to be crushed by the abomination. Suddenly, she was ripped from her nightmare by a sudden force crushing her for a brief moment before moving away. Eyes snapping open, she quickly looked over at what had "attacked" her. Seeing the sheer size of the creature made her go into a panic, quickly jumping to her feet, although she was not standing for long. Her legs quickly faltered beneath her as she tried to back away, her eyes filled with terror. "Please d-don't eat me! I'll do anything y-you want just please don't hurt me!" She was struggling to stand back up. This was how she died. No doubt. A loud whine escaped from her throat. Maybe if she could stall them for long enough- Did they just apologize? Her terror was cut short, now being replaced by confusion. Sure, her sides were still heaving wildly, and her heart was racing but she felt slightly calmer. "I-It's ok, I-I'm alright." Her eyes still betrayed her emotions, pure terror at the massive being before her. Who were they? Why were they here? What was that on their face? Her questions were cut as she realized there was a slight throbbing pain running through her body. A slight wince was shown on her face. She struggled to lift herself from her paws, her brow furrowing as she was defenseless in front of this monstrous stranger. |

Crow stared at the wolf before her, pure confusion crossing her features. Though the mask hid it, you could hear it in her voice. "Wh-what? Why would I eat you..?" She was genuinely shocked someone would say such a thing. "I don't eat wolves.." She mumbled quietly, tone suddenly changing to one of embarrassment. They were probably just in shock and didn't actually think she would eat another canine.. right? Crow sat up and tilted her head, trying to get a better look at the stranger. They seemed to have odd white patches on their fur, as if they got snowed on and the snow never melted, only stained their pelt. It looked rather pretty, though. She awkwardly stood up, nervously grooming the fur on her chest to attempt to reassure herself, but unfortunately, it did nothing. As the stranger spoke again, she perked her ears up and turned her head to the side yet again. "Are you sure you are alright?" Crow took a step forwards, her tail dragging on the ground like always. It was unusually long and fluffy, but not long to the point where it affected her too much. She was rather surprised that they hadn't tried to flee or fight, since that was what everyone else did. It was understandable, but anyone that ever tried to fight her didn't make it out alive. It was unfortunate, but she didn't have much of a choice. Crow shook her head and focused on the wolf again, noticing how they struggled to stand. A wave of guilt hit her and she hesitantly took another step closer so that there was only a bit of space between them. "Look, i'm not going to hurt you, so please don't be afraid?" Crow lowered her head and then sat down, curling her tail around her hind paws. She didn't know what else to say or do, so the best option was to quietly sit there and hope that the wolf didn't suddenly turn on her, she certainly didn't want to accidentally kill something else. Her mind drifted to random thoughts before it finally stopped on one, a rather painful one. She shut her eyes tightly and hoped for it to stop, but it only continued to grow worse. A gentle whine escaped her jaws as she opened her eyes and slowly raised her head. Her mask was beginning to grow loose, but she didn't notice, which would lead to it falling off unless she realized it in time. Crow softly cleared her throat and glanced behind the wolf, eyes searching for anything or anyone. |
