A Leader's Questions...

Posted 2021-01-18 13:55:00

Mystic looked around, expecting not to be picked. She was surprised that the wolf had even saw her, as she hid in the shadows. She reluctantly materialized in the shadows, before stepping out. This alpha had an unusual control over magic and illusions. Mystic sneaked a glance at the wolf. Surprised to find her eyes still on her. Her expression didn't leak any emotions to the other wolves, though. She looked up, into the moonlight and watched it shine onto her coat, making her glow.

She stood up daintily and spoke, "Our rules prevent the pack from getting hurt. I try not to control them too much, and let them move about their daily business. It's their life to live. As long as they're within my pack's borders, they must follow the rules. I respect them, and their lives and help them out whenever I can. But of course, I demand a certain amount of respect back. They must live under my rule. So they come to respect me, and honor me."

She scanned the circle, before looking up into the moonlight. Drawing her energy as silver mist flowed around her as she glowed brightly in incandescent light, flowing around her. None of the other alphas noticed the light, or the mist. Nor did they notice that she was floating a few inches off the ground. Mystic looked down at herself to see the light, the mist, and the ground a few inches below her. She quickly snuffed out the light and the mist and taking her place back on the ground.
She looked around regally, as if nothing happened before speaking, "What would you do if an intruder entered your pack? Would you be friendly and hospitable? Or would you kill them quickly? Does dealing with newcomers affect how your pack members view you?"
Mystic flicked her tail out, and cocked her head to the side, before stepping back into the shadows and fading, until she was outlined by silver mist and invisible. She looked around at other alphas, and, assured that none of them were staring at her, she continued listening. But she was mistaken. Sharp blue eyes pierced the night, and her silvery form. Mystic never noticed them.

Rain was watching the shewolf with a very perplexed expression. She knew this wolf was strange, but now she just seemed to be acting straight-up insane. The wolf had been attempting to levitate for a brief time, and as she was staring, was trying to disappear back into the shade of a tree. She was beginning to question Mystic's sanity. She stayed silent for a moment in regards to the question. "If it's an intruder, they get chased off immediately. If they are just minding their own business, we don't engage. If they attempt to directly harm any member of the pack, the outcome is usually death." There wasn't much sign of her thoughts on the previous wolf judging by her expression and voice. "The safety of my pack isn't something I take lightly."

Rain picked a wolf nearby and caught their eye. "Hypothetically, let's say one of your children decided to challenge your leadership. How do you react? Do you get rid of the problem quickly, by chasing them off or killing them right there? Or do you accept the challenge? What if you win, would you kill your own pup? If you lost, would you take it in stride, accepting your fate, or retaliate?" Her sharp gaze burned into the other wolf, bright with curiosity.

“A challenge?” Rose thought. “My children? Well my firstborn son Tuffy left the pack to find a mate, and my daughter bred with her father so she’s not smart enough to be capable of leadership. As for my younger litter, they’re still finding themselves. In theory though, I would encourage the child to start their own pack and legacy, like Tuffy.”

Rose paused a moment. “Does your pack believe in magic?” she asked a nearby wolf.

Amaris was surprised by this question.

She leaned closer to Rose and made sure that nobody was listening,

''Of course we believe in magic. Magic controls all, the sky, the moon, the sun, and everything else as we know it.''

She stopped for a moment to make sure Rose was listening,

''We believe that the whole universe is made of magic, it is just hidden.''

''There are many types of magic such as the magic of life and death. But my personal favorite is the magic of love. True love is real and it is controlled by magic, magic chooses who shall be with who.''

Amaris sat straight and held her head up.

''But there is also bad magic, like the kind that killed a dear friend of mine.''

Amaris stopped, realizing she had said to much.

She looked around and spotted a nervous looking wolf,

''You there, have you ever lost a dear friend in a freakish accident, one that might be involved with magic?''

Owyne chuckled nervously as the strange wolf's gaze landed on her. Ok, this was weird.
"Uh...no...?" she replied, shooting a glance to the surrounding wolves as if to say 'are you seeing this?'.

She started to step back into the crowd, but the other leader's gaze - and the awkward silence around them - compelled her to speak more.

"I mean, I've lost friends before - but it was all old age! There's, uh, Riefen, Uliki, Grisin, and Nawo! Oh, and Sekri, but he wasn't really my friend. He was kinda a jerk, really. Uh...that's it, I guess. Nothing magical, just, y'know, old age." she babbled, her ears drooping at the memory of her friends.

Her ears perked up again as she remembered that she was supposed to ask a question too. She looked into the crowd of wolves, picking one at random to ask.
"Oh! You! Hmm...do you have any pups of your own? Or not - no judging either way!" she asked, wagging her tail in a friendly manner.

Speakeasy nods towards the friendly leader, her own tail giving a slight wag as she thinks about her pups.
"Yes, indeed- quite a few in fact. Though, only a handful of my daughters chose to stay with me... My first litter, Ale and Gin, they're both Captains now." Her chest is puffed out at this proclimation. Clearly, she feels a great deal of pride for her children. "Then there's John Smith, one of my runners, and Bloody Mary. I'm grooming her to stand as my successor, one day, but she has much to learn."
Her ears flick back, then. "Heck, they've each had a few pups of their own- and them a few of their own. Doesn't make me feel any younger to be working the bar with my great granddaughters, that's for sure!"

She takes a moment to look around the gathering, then- sizing up her fellow leaders. Finally, her gaze rests on one she has yet to see speak, and she nods towards them. "Tell me, my friend- what does your pack do for fun? Do you have any games you all made up yourselves?"

Amaris loved talking about her pack and their activates,

'''There are many things we do for fun but we especially like having beauty contest and skills competitions. We also like going on pack hunts. They are all fun and my pack is all about having fun.''

Amaris was happy to share what they do for fun but she now had a question to ask,

she looked around the group of leaders and spotted a friendly looking wolf.

''Hello, are you one of those wolves that think of runts as a pack weakness or are you the kind that thinks of them as a blessing?''

“Weak is really a question of perspective. Every wolf has its strengths and weaknesses, even us alphas,” I said looking around at the group. “So no, we don’t really see them as a weakness, or a blessing. They’re just wolves.”

“All right, my turn to ask!” I turned to the next wolf, “What’s the funniest thing that has ever happened to you or you pack? Or both!”

(Replying to Quiet Cupid Wolf, posted at the same time as someone else!)

Oliver got excited at the chance to talk about her pack to someone else, it doesn't happen too often, unfortunately.

"Hm, oh yeah! Honestly my pack and I never notice runts too much. They're pretty cool, anyways, 'cause they're a bit rarer than normal pups!" Oliver happily explained. "I wouldn't say a blessing," she continued, "but no curse either. Now that I think of it, I don't think we have any runts in out pack currently, maybe one will pop up with Noel's litter, possibly!" Oliver smiled, and looked around the group,

"Hey! Does your pack have any traditions? Like holidays or celebrations?"

Stormstar softly whined at the question, surprised.

The alpha looked at the moon, which had risen during this meeting, collected her thoughts and replied :

"Yes, we have traditions, such as when a pup becomes an apprentice, an apprentice becomes a warrior and such, but one of my favorites is the one that is led by medicine wolves, where after a hunt, we gather to howl our emotions to the moon and our ancestors."

She turned to a wolf that was lying down looking at a nearby pond and asked it:

"Do you know how to swim? Do your teach your pups how to be safe in the water?
