A Leader's Questions...

Posted 2021-04-26 16:24:11

Aurora who is the new leader of the Noel Winter Eve pack.

" no specific member keep records of our pack. we all work together to keep the records of our pack.  we have our pack' record written down in our pack lore. though it does need to be updated." she says.

Aurora looks at the other leaders some older and some are younger than she is. but it didn't bother her.

" how closely does the new leader follow the rules of the pack of the first leader? what advice does the old leader give the new leader?"she asks.

for her , it wasn't hard or easy. the rules Magic the first leader of the Noel Winter Eve pack made were not difficult to follow. the pack will always be lead by a female wolf.

Aurora having living with the pack when Magic was leader it was easy for her to follow the rules of the pack. but for wolves that didn't know her they might find it hard to follow the pack rules.

Nightingale stepped forward,

''I to have been leading a pack for a short while, I haven't had any help though.''

She stood and glared at Aurora,

''I was a loner before I came to be a leader. I did not chose to be a leader.''

''I was wild and free....not wanting to ever be in a pack, but of course I'm the one destined for greatness.''

She paused and cleared her throat,

''When I got the pack the former leader was dead and no one wanted to help me, I had no mentor or guidance.''

''And as for the rules, I make my own. The former leader is dead so she has no say in them.''

She turned with a huff of anger,

''You are lucky.'''

She looked around the crowd till she found a wolf worthy of talking to her,

''Have you ever had to 'get rid of' a pack member?'' she asked with a deadly smile.

Nightingale's eyes set on Traitor as she asked her question.  The older wolf's ear twitched slightly being the only tell of any emotional reaction to the question.

"I have. Mostly before I was the leader of my pack. There were a few 'unworthy' wolves my former leader wanted gone. Of course he just told everyone that the litter was weak and died in winter or that specific wolf abandoned their loyalties to the pack and left. As the lead wolf now I haven't needed 'get rid of' anyone yet. That's only because the ones who I wanted to escaped first."

Her lips snarled with her last words showing her aggravation about her lost prey. Nonetheless they were gone from her pack and wasn't that all that mattered? She sighed relaxing a bit as she turned tonthe next wolf.

"Being leader can take its toll and having a bond with another wolf can sometimes take a little bit off our shoulders. Do you have a bond with another wolf? A mate? Does this mate help you lead the pack at all? Are they equal in rank to you?"

Kasana jumped up and licked Dire Skoll's jaw, seeing he was getting slightly irritated from not having anything to eat for a while. Meanwhile, the small she-wolf was pretty fine hunger-wise. She guessed it was because of their vast differences in size.

He blinked at her slowly, sending her a mental response to her physical question. She could speak for them both.

Turning her blue eyes to look at Traitor, she smiled softly at her. "I've been with Skoll for as long as I can remember. It was my idea to form a pack in the first place, and he did so to make me happy. Little did he know, it made him happy as well." She giggled lightly, tapping her somewhat wagging tail on the large male's shoulder.

The caramel she-wolf looked back at Traitor, her faintly greying muzzle curling in another smile. She was definitely a cheery female. "I am also trying to instill the importance of having that significant other, be it a mate or a very good friend, to our successor Shinku. She is still quite young, but with our mentoring, she will be ready to take the role as alpha by the time Skoll and I's farewell ceremony commences."

The small female sat back down beside Skoll, her blue eyes darting around to look at every wolf in the circle thoroughly. Finally, her eyes stopped on one who she felt was special for the next question.

"Tell me, how much does your family mean to you? Do you have any children, adopted even? Your parents, if you remember them, how important were they to you?" She asked softly, her tail thumping against the ground softly.

Evening smiled and fixed her posture. Her eyes shined. "Family means a lot to me, as do friendships. Hm, I was never with my parents for long. As I was travelling packs, I always had a role-model that I considered some kind of parent figure. So that's the closest I have."

She looked back to glance at Clementine, "I consider my great friend, Clementine, as family," She continued, turning back, "I do not have any pups yet, but I'm expecting in two days! I'm very excited to see my first litter. Also- if there were ever an abandoned pup I found, I think I'd adopt them if no one else did."

She turned her head and picked out a leader that seemed interesting to her, "Hello! Are you the only lead, or do you have other wolves that lead alongside you? Are specific roles considered 'higher rank' than others?"

Rukkaua hmmed as she stepped forward, tail brushing softly against the ground. "We do, in fact, have a few higher ranks within the pack. My mate and I are the pack leaders and called King and Queen, our seconds are the lord and lady of the pack. Then we have our pack healer and the packs Sage." She started, a growl rumbling happily in her throat.

"The pack's Lord and Lady are in change when my mate and I are not around, or unable to perform our duties. They also take care of the more mundane tasks, like sending out our scouts and hunting parties. Our pack Sage is the voice piece of our gods, they speak through her." The she-wolf paused, "We have a few other interesting ranks as well. Dukes and Duchess are mated to the pack's heir or heiress, my own mate was formerly a Duke. And in case a king or queen takes a mate of the same gender, they are named consort, and one of the heir or heiress's siblings is required to birth the new heir."

Rukkaua glanced around, licking her jaws before her gaze landed on one wolf. "If you could change one thing about yourself, mentally, physically, or emotionally, what would it be?" She asked, an ear twitching in question.

Zara sighed. She was getting old and still those same wishes followed her.

,,If anything, I wish I could've been more like our starry leader. I do have her white coat, but it is tainted with shadows that loom over my lack of past. Alas, appeariances are nothing. All I ever wanted was to be like her. A good, strong she-wolf, leading her family through thick and thin."

,,But haven't you been doing just that?", her mate, Crackle StormCloud chimned in.

,,I guess everyone's diffrent. Anyway, do you have any sort of teachings of a deeper meaning? What knowledge do you consider sacred, if any?"

A brownish wolf with dozens of feathers in her fur and puffy eyes opened her mouth to speak, but was cut short with coughs that racked her whole body. A dark brown wolf with gray and red undertones scoffed, and stood up to speak. "Ugh Ferret, why did you even insist on coming? You're not really leader anymore." The first wolf, Ferret, grinned sheepishly and stepped back. "Whoops."

"Whatever, I'll take over your honorary duties. . ." The brown-red-gray wolf snarled, circling in front of Ferret. Ferret walked off, dramatically dragging her paws.

"The name's Chinook." Her head snapped back to the other leader. "My mother, ex-leader, Ferret over there is completely obsessed with feathers. She started some vow tradition when she was in her prime, and now every wolf takes a vow when they come of age. More specifically, when 'the feathers' whisper to the wolf. I . . . . I remember her teaching me about the feathers when I was a pup. They're . . . supposed . . . to help guide us. I personally don't see the appeal." Chinook paused to think.

"But, these vows are meant to be a promise you make to the pack to help it thrive. Maybe you even need to sacrifice something for the pack. As for sacred knowledge, I suppose that would be whatever the feathers whispered to Ferret when she made the vows system. She hasn't told anybody. . . and. . . knowing her? I don't think I want to know." A dark look crossed Chinook's face. She hunched over, pensive.

"E-enough about us." Chinook's head snapped up, and she puffed out her chest.

"Um. . what. . no- uh- do you get punished if you step out of line? If so, what would it be? I need to know for. . . personal reasons." Chinook half-growled the last sentence, her eyes scanning for any wolf willing to answer.

Shy Fawn's Moon frowned at the question.

"My father's punishments consisted on being nipped, have a fight, exile, and everything in between. My grandfather, Starwing, he.. Well, let's say he had imagination and used it when punishing a packmate."

She shuddered, remembering stories she had been told of what Starwing had done when he was alive.

"As for me, I think I'm going to go with a new system, the four paws warnings, as I like to call it."

She closed her eyes for a moment, remembering when she and her daughter had set it up.

"It basically consists of four warnings, going stronger and harsher, and the fourth one is either exile or... death."

Shy Fawn's Moon cringed, knowing it was cruel, but fair and necessary.

"Anyways, do you have a special name for the leader? Does the name mean something?"
