A Leader's Questions...

Posted 2022-01-12 13:14:44
AlbatrossStar and Minnowbite stepped into the hollow where the Leaders were just in time to hear Sea Lamprey's Moon's question. They looked at each other, surprised. Then AlbatrossStar replied:
"I'm the founder and leader of MooseClan, so no. Right, Minnowbite?" - He looked at his deputy, who nodded-
"My turn to ask! Let's see... Oh, I know! How do you deal with plagues in your packs/Clans if your medicine wolf can't control it even working at their hardest?"

Verdance listened to the question and after a small pause said "I haven't had an outbreak yet, since my herbalist is very good. But I expect I'd probably make a quarantine cave for the poor I'll wolves." Verdance sat their, thinking of a question she could ask. "What do you do with pups that grow up and no longer want to stay?"

"If they don't want to stay with the pack," Splint started as he crossed his front legs, holding his head up high with pride. "...then they'll have to make their own way, somewhere far away from our territory. I will not stop them from leaving, but if they linger, well..." The wolf bared his teeth as he rose one of his claws up to glide across his neck. "A lone wolf is nothing but a nuisance and a threat - and I do not take threats lightly."

He huffed, before turning to the next wolf in the order. "How do you keep the peace in your pack? Do you have any problems with infighting?"

Rain flinched at the previous alpha's cruelty before refocusing on the question asked. "The only real infighting I have in my pack is between a pair of males, they've always rubbed each other the wrong way since they both are the most aggressive wolves in the pack. Flower is always so arrogant and Bay is selfish..." She trails off with an exasperated sigh, the two males sitting a ways off with the rest of the Moonrise Eclipse Pack. The two of them have scars that can be assumed that they gave each other as they are visibly glaring and you can audibly hear low growls between them. The other members of the pack keep trying to keep them from being near each other.

Rain's grey fur ruffles a bit and her ears twitch in minor irritation, "In the pack everyone is more or less on good terms and those that begin to have problems are given some time apart before everyone gently encourages them to find ways to make up with each other. If that doesn't help, they are ordered to work together in hopes that they will figure out how to work with each other. Though, Bay and Flower are an obvious case, being the only pair where nothing seems to get them to get along with each other."

Shaking her head, she turns to ask her question to the next alpha, "How do you pick your next alpha? Is there some sort of  challenge to complete or do you just choose one of your leader's pups to be the next one in line?" she asks, curiosity in her voice.

Cayikem blinked at the she-wolf's question,  before stepping forward. "The Order of the Hidden Sun has an old tradition of how to pick pack leaders." He started one ear twitching during the few moments of silence. "Our pack was originally called the Enbacrkauar Fesk, or in common tongue, the Amberskies Pack, and our founder told stories of a time where wolves were only born with yellow, amber, and orange eyes. While this rule went unsaid, it was decided that only a wolf with either yellow, amber or orange eyes would take over and lead the pack. Our old name was a nod to that, as is our current name, as they are the colors of the sun." He shrugged, "Every leader since our founder, has either had yellow or orange eyes, maybe we'll have an amber-eyed leader next, or we'll - for some reason - include red eyes in the mix." There were other things that a potential heir needed to become the true heir, but the eye color was the main thing for the pack.

The male let out a soft hum, then turned his gaze to another wolf, "Hmmm, Let's see. Is there any kind of ritual, challenge or test needed for a newcomer to join your pack?" Cayikem questioned, orange eyes narrowing in interest.

"Well, the deputy always becomes the leader after the previous one dies. So Minnowbite  here will lead MooseClan when I join the stars." He scanned the wolves around and saw one next to a snowdrift who looked bored. "You there, how do you deal with poisonous plants? Do you clear them out or you leave some of them be?"

Verdance listened to the question. She fiddled with a stalk of grass thoughtfully. "Well, usually my herbalist deals with those, I definitely don't let any of the pups near them. Oh! I have a question! What measures do you take to protect your pups?'

"I always make sure that all pups are protected, even if most won't stay with the pack" Birch replied, flicking his ear. "We even have three pupsitters at the moment!" He added with a light chuckle, before turning to the next wolf. "What do you do when you come across lone wolves in your territory?"

"I typically ignore them. I have no space for just anybody." A stout and strict looking wolf gruffs, eyeing the pale creamy wolf that had posed the question. "They are typically not worth the bother, but sometimes you have the chance to encounter real striking wolves with peculliar coats. ....no such luck for me this far." She huffs, fixating  her pale yellow gaze at the pack leader before her, tilting her dark furred head to the side.

"Do you and your pack follow anything that could be called religion? Clearly mystical things with no found explanation exist, such as when the dreamlands become accesible... but I suppose you could say that I hold some skepticism against some claims of the supernatural, and thus my pack has no organized religion. I'd be curious to learn for how it is for others differing from me and my pack, however." Katona offers a small smile, or more like an akward tug at the end of her lips.

"Well" -AlbatrossStar replied- "we believe that our ancestors and dead Clanmates will join SpiritClan, and they send visions and warnings to our medicine wolf about things to come. But they need to work on the timing sometimes" -he muttered that last part-
"As far as I know, only we and other Pack/Clan believe in SpiritClan."

He shook himself, and pointed his one good eye at a wolf that was in the opposite side of the place, and within earshot. "Hey, you, over there! I have a question for ya! Are your wolves locked in a role forever or can they change roles?" He saw other wolves staring at him, and his ears felt hot in embarasment as he relized he had yelled.
