A Leader's Questions...

Feather says, My packs pupsitters tell stories about the pack, but since my pack is less than a breeding cooldown old, this remains to be seen whether this shall continue."

Feather turns to the wolf next to her, realizes that she needs to ask a question, and asks "What is the stupidest mistake you have ever made?"

Raven Shadow gave a bitter laugh. "That's easy," she growled "My pack is still very new, and, up until recently, I had little idea how to take care of a pack." She groomed her jet black fur, looking slightly embarrassed. "I had one of my she-wolves breed to a male outside the pack. But we hardly had the resources to take care of ourselves, let alone a litter of pups." She heaved a regretful sigh, and flopped down, "none of those pups remain with us, though they shall never be forgotten," she muttered, almost to quiet to hear.

Raven Shadow shook herself, as though trying to rid herself of the memory, before fixing a nearby wolf with her piercing yellow eyes. "Tell me," she said, "How does your pack name its members, does it use a strict naming system like mine, or are there less rules for your names?"

Verdance looked up, the mossy wolf replying easily, "In our pack, we feel that names should express whoever the wolf wants to be. Generally, our pups go without names until adolescence or adulthood where they can choose their own name. I believe this is better than telling them names they had no say in choosing, it's their name after all." Verdance finished, thinking of a good question to ask. "Do you assign roles to wolves or let them choose themselves?" She asked the next wolf.

A large wolf made her way into the circle, her glowing wings and tendrils shifting nervously. As she came to sit down, the she-wolf cleared her throat.

"I, er... Apologize for my delay, Cascadestar had come back to us, and willed me to come here after she passed, and I became leader. Earning my lives was difficult."

Whirlwindstar laughed nervously, then turned her head towards Raven Shadow.

"Our pack does have a naming system, yes. As a pup, they are given a prefix, usually associated with their personality, markings, or something of the like. Their suffix is always -pup, and they become 'paws when they reach adolescence. Once they've earned their names, they'll get a suffix to their names, usually associated, again, with their appearance, personality, or sometimes their strongsuits. Our herbalists usually have nature- or herb related names, and leaders always earn the -star suffix after receiving their lives.

"These are apt to change, though. Some pups or adols earn their names long before they reach their first year, such as our Scout apprentice, Moonlightcove. Others will have things that lead to name changes, such as our deputy, Mossflame, who was originally named Tidesweep upon his name earning, but changed when his eyes turned into a wisp-green."

As another wolf answered at the same time, she hummed in thought, regarding her question with some thought.

"As I mentioned, wolves are often mentored by the roles they're best suited for. But, ultimately, they decide for themselves if they wish to stay in that role. One of our current Scouts, Ghostgaze, is a former Hunter. When we lost both Silversnow and Shadowedice, she took up the mantle of Scout, and plans to retire when Moonlightcove is of age."

Casting her glowing eyes towards the aformentioned deputy, she was offered a reassuring smile. Thus, she turned towards the next wolf.

"What do you do to prepare your next leader, for them to take over. Do you train them from a pup, pick them out at random, or do they fight for dominance?"

That last thought caused a shudder to ripple through Whirl's pelt, her tendrils and wings glowing brighter for a moment. She'd never understand how one could fight like that.

A rather small white wolf wearing a black cloak entered the circle
"Hello my name is icestar
"I am the first leader of my pack so I have little experience on this matter. However, I claimed leadership from my father though political prowess."
The wolf that can convince the majority of theĀ  pack to follow them wins leadership of the remaining pack but, it beacomes their duty to hunt down and kill the traitors as such my pack does not change leaders often as it reasults in bloodshed and sorrow."

I have one question
"Many wolves have come to me before telling of a strange blue dreamland with disappearing wolves and the ability to bend reality. What in the stars is this thing!?"

Feather calmly says "We pick a beta every first day of spring, and our beta takes over when the leader dies. Our current beta is Ginger, a scout.

She turns to a wolf next to her, realizes that she was about to ask Shell, a puppy from meme pack, and promptly asks the wolf across from her "What is the thing you find most amusing about non wolves?"

(Oof, I was skipped)
"Oh I know the answer to that! The dreamlands are a beautiful place, several of my pack members actually live there! It is an alternate dimension of sorts, where there are lunar parallels of everything here. You can only access it at specific times of the month during your sleep, hence, dreamlands." Verdance explained, her icy eyes glinting as she thought of the glowing blue dreamlands. "Have any of you had to banish, or even kill members of your pack?" She asked curiously.

Feather replies " the only wolf that was ever lost was ebony, a scout. I couldn't find him, so I assumed he was killed by a different wolf.

What is the weirdest thing you have ever found while exploring?
