Want more lore? Want less of something else? Want me to know how silly/crazy/relatable so-and-so is? Feel free to DM me or comment here! Please direct comments and suggestions specifically about the rules to the rules thread linked above, and please remember, no matter what you have to say, to be kind. Day 1: Autumn, Year 1 As my first report I am delighted to say that our socially troublesome lone female, Haya, may have finally found a mate. She is more than a little combative with him, but that has been her nature since she was a pup, and this new male seems to tolerate her outbursts and overly dominant nature with patience, if not a bit of curious interest. Opposites attract? The two do make an odd pair. Maybe it's due to their youth--I would guess the male is about the same age as our Haya--but I've noticed the two seem to spend an unusual amount of time playing. I don't mean usual wolfie wrestling, though of course they do that too. I mean playing with leaves, sticks, rocks ... they really seem intent on amusing themselves at every possible moment (a detriment to their current hunting success rate, I have no doubt). They act very much like puppies despite the fact that they each only have the other to depend on for survival. Although they have certainly been enjoying each others company, despite Haya's generally domineering personality, they do not hunt well together. Maleko, the name I've given the male, seems to have more hunting skills, but of course Haya must have things done her way; I'm not sure she's realized his real potential. She certainly is a fierce little number. In the last couple weeks they have only managed to hunt a few mouth fulls and I don't think it's exaggerating to say that those successes were probably just luck. But those mouth fulls will be enough to keep them going for a while as long as their luck doesn't run out. There have been no other notable events, besides the occasional scratch or small wound. I think they tend to do more damage to themselves with their bickering than when they are hunting, but of course their fighting turns so quickly to play that it's hard to imagine they ever mean each other any real harm. I will continue to send reports as events unfold. Let's make sure to send our warmest regards to this unlikely pair. Signing off, Chantaey. Today's Events:

Day 4: Autumn, Year 1 Over the past few weeks our two wolves' hunting skills may have gotten a little better... it's hard to be to positive about having a few more mouth fulls of food but progress is progress, I suppose. It remains enough to maintain them for the time being but I can't help but look toward winter which lies just another six weeks away. I fear it will be a lean season for them, but I do hope that's the worst of it. I've noticed Haya showing symptoms of what is most likely fleas these last few weeks. She is scratching constantly and has far less patience for her new companion than usual. He, of course, remains ever tolerant of her outbursts and so far seem unafflicted by the same symptoms. I hope she is able to rid herself of the pests sooner, rather than later, though I suspect they will be more annoyance than problem in the near future. Today's Events:

Day 8: Winter, Year 1 This will be my first winter report and I do wish I had more positive things to reflect on. Haya and Maleko's hunting teamwork has definitely been improving. Thinking back to when they first started working together, I can tell that their communication and ability to predict each other's movements has vastly improved. However the scarcity of prey in the cold season has proved too much for their teamwork. I haven't witnessed them taking down any substantial prey and only recently saw them gnawing on bones from what I believe was the last of their cache. As I thought, this winter is likely to be hard on them. I hope their luck improves and that I am able to remain only an observer of their survival. Though I may be tempted to help them, I know it may do them more harm in the long term… Haya still suffers from her itching. I would have thought the winter might kill off the pests but perhaps her fur keeps them as warm as it keeps her. The only good news really is the way the two have bonded as the days have grown colder. Haya strikes at her companion far less now and the two tend to be quite affectionate with each other. I wonder, perhaps, if they will breed this season. It may not be possible for them to raise pups and recover from the winter at the same time if this season is as hard as I expect it to be, but it would be promising for their future if they were somehow successful.
